I Stepped Up AGAIN (991.2 Turbo S)
#166
So here at the tune dealer.
Not sure if a bait / switch has gone on but still economical to say the least since I had a tune already.
thoughts??
New Porsche ECU software = $186 (Dealer)
NEW Stage 2 pump gas tune = $200
NEW Race Gas tune = $400
Tune Switcher device = $150
Labor = $150
vs.
What would have been a lateral tune switch (old ECU software) = Free and Labor = $150. No tune switching.
Guess I spring for whole deal. 30 day money back on the Race Gas tune if I don’t like it.

LOL
Will do! I’m sure it does plug-in but I think the tunes are already on the ECU it just switches that option on versus actually loading a separate tune like the cobb does. They keep using the word embedded when it comes to the race gas tune being in the tune they are flashing. It’s just an option that they have to turn on and then charge for. So technically the car has it with the new flash you just have to pay to have a box checked to access it.

So, the car felt actually Smoother and more "Drivable" on my short trip home. Hard to describe why though.
PDK also felt a bit better, but that may have been from the Porsche Dealer software upgrade. They service writer did state it flashes it as well.
I only got really one chance to lay into it...I left a light and rolled out and let it up shift into 2nd and I think it upshifted into 3 right before I smacked it and it down shifted and WENT!!!!!
I just got the sensation that the front end stayed "UP" longer and higher during that short pull. Needless to say, even though I know the numbers claimed are about 50% more gain, it truly Felt it.
I guesstimate it added another 35-60 whp.... We'll see what the data says later.

Dude, your storyline is like a TV show. Thursday couldn't come fast enough. Now we gotta wait for draggy results. Ugh, the suspense lol. It's good to know that GIAC has a stage 2 plus for the 991.2 model.
