Thanks. We’re okay. We seem to be out of danger. It’s odd when you have to decide what to take with you in a short period of time. We loaded up our GMC truck and the Porsche and we were ready to roll.

The fire is still burning this morning. 50 acres burned, 0% containment. No structures damaged or people injured at this point. Fortunately for me, the wind is blowing the fire away from my house at this point. Here are a few more pics taken from my street last night. Crazy stuff...

Quick 5 runs at Bandimere before the rain started. Left lane was better. Had quite a bit of wheel spin on the 5th run though

Good to hear, the pictures tell a spooky story.

Thanks for asking. The fire is mostly contained. The evacuation orders have been lifted. The firefighters are still working on 100% containment and on putting out any flare-ups in a remote area. Fortunately we have had no structures lost, and no injuries at this point. The firefighters and volunteers are amazing. We dodged a bullet on this one!

That is exceptional fortunate, and good to hear.

When the wild fires swept through northern Alberta a few years back, my house was simply erased and it got so hot that the Duramax I had parked in the driveway engine melted in the chassis. It was also the second time that house burnt down in 14 years - so I am very happy that you have avoided that, it really sucked to have to deal with.

Cheers,

I installed an unreasonable number of LED lights in the garage, then used the excruciatingly unforgiving light to 3D wash my car.

Low -> High altitude = lower density air.
Cool -> Hot temperatures = lower density air
Dry -> humid humidity = lower density air (though a much smaller impact)

'Density Altitude' just combines all three factors into a single 'equivalent' altitude at standard temperature and humidity. It was intended more to determine the loss of aerofoil lift in hot, high, and humid environments but air density affects engine performance as well.
