@bigrpowr
I had mine out for a second HPDE event this past weekend, working up a post in the "Tracking Your 911" thread.
Did you have the aero engaged the whole time? Makes a huge difference in handling! Glad you have fun! You don't see many TT/TSs at the track, but when done right they keep up with or will flat out smoke anything.

I always have my aero engaged. Keeps it tucked down the straights. The car is a sledgehammer at the track. Funny when the GT guys come up to you and say they can't believe how the TTS performs.

SO many people underestimate the Turbo / Turbo S's for track use. Love hurting the GT guys feelings

Quick question for the track folks-

Do you know if our cars come stock with all-wheel steering, or is that an option? Or, is PTV (rear wheel steering) the standard treatment, and PTV+ an option? I've been trying to find out what my car has, given how much tyre wear I had after my last HPDE (where I got a flat and DNF'd for the first time ever). I've asked my S.A. but he moved to a new position and waiting on a new S.A. to get back with me.
My "My Porsche" account/info isn't exactly clear, so I asked for a build sheet from my dealership just to know for sure. I have a 991.2 TT.

All 991 Turbos (regardless of S or non-S) came with *rear wheel steering* (RWS) standard. It was not optional.

PTV is Porsche Torque Vectoring, which is not RWS (although it does affect rear end.) PTV involves using the ABS system to drag one or more brake calipers to effect rotation on the yaw axis. It’s a “poor mans” active differential. (Or, really, a “cheap company’s” active differential.) PTV+ couples a mechanical limited-slip differential (LSD) with PTV.

However, I *think* all 991 Turbos have just PVT. PVT+ was not an option. (I have forgotten this about 991 Turbos since I ordered mine almost 10 years ago (wow, does time fly…))

PTV is typically hard on rear break pads not tires. Tire wear on track has a lot of variables: tire age, tire make/model, alignment, driving style, pressure and temperature which is a function of all of those.

Thanks for the information. It's good to get clarification on "RWS" and that it's always there, always on. I don't know for sure if Porsche offers "All Wheel Steer" but someone asked about it this weekend and I wasn't sure either way. Looking at my "Standard Equipment" list, I do see "Rear axle steering" included.

Since we were talking PTV, I logged in again to "My Porsche" account and am scrolling through options and it actually does say:
  1. Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV+) incl. electronically controlled differential lock
I assume this is accurate, since the rest of my Options List ties what I know it has. Under "Standard Equipment" it also says this:
  1. Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus) including electronically controlled rear differential lock with fully variable standard torque split

I would think that, by definition, once you have rear-wheel steering you also have “all-wheel steering” since there’s a steering wheel that controls front wheel steering. At best, AWS, is MarketingSpeak.

Like I wrote - didn’t remember. But, it’s nice to know that we have PTV+. That should cut down on rear pad on-track wear.

Just affirming what @worf928 said above, below is language from the 991.2 Turbo/S press kit (the discussion made me curious):

Improved responsiveness for better performance

The Porsche 911 Turbo combines efficient high performance and full-fledged everyday usability unlike any other sports car. Active systems like the intelligent Porsche Traction Managment (PTM) all-wheel drive, rear axle steering, adaptive aerodynamics and Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV) Plus, promote performance and stability alike. The 911 Turbo S, with its full complement of standard features, also has the PDCC roll stabilization system and the PCCB ceramic braking system as standard. These systems are optionally available on the 911 Turbo. A new generation of tires offer lower rolling resistance and increased grip.

On my .2 model, the rear wing and front aero lip deploy 1. At varying speeds automatically, or 2. You can depress and hold to extend both front/rear spoilers for track use. Someone posted this in the "Spoiler" thread on the first page, but it's a good explanation, here's a link to that one. Watch the YT video near the bottom, your should do this automatically or you can manually extend both. How to check is, put your car in Park, turn it into Sport+ mode, and 'allegedly' both spoiler/wing extend automatically. If not, press the button and you'll get an indicator message saying to hold the button down, until they're both fully deployed, watch ground clearance, etc. Then get out and check under your front bumper and your wing should be up also.

Those look great, fellow Houstonite. I love the CF look, just not sure how well it'd go with my Graphite Blue/Chalk, but probably not too shabby.
