So i got my rear seat delete back from the upholsterer today. I had him remove the center section that had the GT 3 stitching and replace it with new material . Nothing ground breaking.
I did machine up a couple delrin plugs and some SS washers. This phone sure take some crazy detailed pictures. It looks really good in person but in the pic's you can see every line. I just painted the child seat hooks black. You can't even see them looking. I was going to grind them out but just too much mess. Next is finding the right Roll Bar. I did go over all the rubber seals on the car today. Something you don't really think about. But they dry out and there is a Sh_t ton of them on these cars. Then I did all the black plastic as well. A lot of that on these cars as well. No pic's of that stuff pretty boring I hope I am not clogging up this thread with my crap. Let me know if I should just start my own. After looking at that picture I do have a rear lower carpet from a GT 3 and I mite just install it to hide those child seat hooks and those velcro patches kind of stick out. But only in the pictures. What do you guys think? I have a complete GT 3 carpet kit that I was going to sell. Makes more sense to keep the kit whole and sell it. Heck ,I am just getting started with this car and I am already in way over my head. So why stop now. Right?

Huh. The cure for that is a Costco-only ‘73 Impala in 5 shades of rust. Or, parking carefully. Or something.

I simply assumed it was because he was tired of paying shops four figures a couple of times per year and having it more broken when he picked it up that when he dropped it off.

The 231k-mile 928 that’s here now has… probably $80k-ish in records (I reviewed them all but didn’t get out the adding machine) from the last 15 years from a ‘well-respected Porsche Indy.’ The quality of the work is so poor that you won’t believe me unless I post the pictures.

I stole the brake vacuum sender from the Turbo...

... to swap it into my wife's 991S to resolve P1432 and P1433 "Vacuum system leaking - cooling system fault" codes.

It's a ~$30 sender.

But, Porsche wants you to buy the whole hose to which it is attached that runs from the booster, under the battery, down to the bottom, and then under the car. Why? Probably so that they can charge a day of labor.

The sender takes - literally - 30 seconds to remove.

I thought I was going to be doing change-over valves so I had it's @$$ off. Since I was there I did air filters (after 35k miles... yuck!)

Great hack!

Against my better judgement, the 996 is going into Porsche on Monday.... Cannot wait to see what the bill is.

Porsche loves to do that crap.... I broke the connector for the front bumper harness on the TTS. Porsche will only sell the complete wire harness for $350. Went to VW and got the exact connector for $13, of course I had to swap all the wires but worth the effort.. Took all of 15 minutes to replace..

Wait for another 10 years when 991 parts get transferred to the Porsche Classic Group division. They're doing this now for 928 parts. Stuff that used to be available from Bosch (etc.) is now ONLY available from PCG for 3x to 5x the price. I guess Bosch "ran out," didn't want to make another run, PCG finds another supplier on an exclusive-basis contract and then, for example a fuel pressure regulator that was $190 is now $600. And even better it's already starting to flash rust in the box! (So, *every* new metal part I get from Porsche for 928s has to be thrown into my next batch of electroplating.)

DSC working as it should, both us standard and sport settings.

Escapes me how it went south.

The car is back to full assassin mode, I like.
