Rodsky I am sorry I could not be there for pick up, it's been a while. The shop updates are in progress so hopefully soon. Thank you for the opportunity as usual and always being a big part of why we love what we do! Enjoy it.
I have a number of pieces of equipment registered in Alberta, namely a couple of trucks, a UTV and the 991. This is done primarily for the cost savings, particularly for commercial insurance where it is up to 30% less than the equivalent in BC.
The downside (or upside, depending on your perspective) is that all Alberta insured equipment has to go back to the province at least once a year. The 991 has missed a couple of years, thank you COVID, so it needed to go, a truck will follow when I go for a job in September.
Adding to the fun, they are still building a pipeline from Edmonton Alberta down to the coast, in Burnaby, in an effort to make Canadian oil more 'worldly'. Going up on a Sunday was nice as no one was working. Coming south yesterday caught me by surprise because I thought construction was much more advanced than it was. There are now more than 80 automated truck crossings (and reduced speed construction zones) on the highway from the Alberta/BC border down to Kamloops - approximately 400 ish KMS. Throw a bunch of tourists into the mix driving rental RVs at 30 - 40% slower than the posted limit through the mountains, and one's stress level really gets pushed to the limit.
Onus is on me - I saw all this infrastructure in place on the way north, but I did not really put it together that it would slow me down so much until I got into it yesterday.
Oh, I also had a cop follow me for 60kms until he decided to pick on a motorcycle guy, who as far as I could tell, was operating fairly legally.
It did get me thinking; no one passed me, and I passed many. My car car is fairly stock other than being lowered, BMC, DSC some RS body bits. I look at your dyno plots and it seems that getting one of these to 660ish at the wheels is pretty straight forward, reliable, however, would have not been utilized on the southbound trip whatsoever. In fact, I was wondering how I would have used that at all - the moment you get clocked in BC 41km/h over the limit, car gets impounded and spends a week in car jail, driver loses his license for the same period. Stock, when passing something, it will easily hit 160,70,80+ and you have to watch it because it is so bloody intoxicating that it just keeps going and going... very much on the fence about modding it because it can easily send me to jail in its current form.
Also, mileage varied quite a bit - 22.3mpg northbound, 124kmh average, 24.5mpg southbound 103kmh average.
But you are right, it was good to get it out, and to get out.

How do they know it went back ? Annual inspection sticker ??
Was out driving around shopping for Bourbon, and dropped by local detail shop to get quote on new PPF/Paint Correction/Ceramic. Landed up just dropping the car off to get it all redone. So when I back into town Monday, should have a clean pretty 911.
