I'm surprised to see that the RS has steel breaks. I thought it came with ceramics...
The wing is a bit too much for my taste. I'm sure it drive awesome though. But that look isn't going to compete with the 458 speciale. IMHO
only RS to come with ceramics as standard have been the GT2 variants
you'll find ceramics rather contra-indicated for serious track work...
don't think there's ever been an RS that sold poorly...or for that matter a "CS/Scud" 8 cylinder fezza.....(well at least not since the 355)....
so think it will appeal rather well to the anticipated clientele.....regardless of the Fezza competition.....
I hope they fine tune the look of that wing a bit for the production model. The squared off winglets are a bit too much. Don't like the solid wing supports either when they are Cup car tall.
If you look closely at some of the spy shots, you will see, that both the wing supports and the endplates are taped.
The patent drawings probably show the "open" supports and the nicely shaped winglets:

different strokes for different folks.
drove 991 and speciale.
I'll tske 991 over it all day long
but that's jius one persons opionion
and I was hoping for a wider and taller wimg on RS
I agree that the photos posted earlier in the thread, the wing is just too much for the street....not very pretty... yeah, yeah, I know, belongs on the track anyway, etc.
If Porsche adds a turbo to the GT3, it will no longer be a GT3 period. End of discussion. Cancel the GT3 program entirely, and begin your work on the GT2. And then go home, pray to the Greenie culture of Europe and watch as the new GT350 Mustang gets introduced in the states with a 5.2L NA V8 with an 8,500rpm rev limit that will have the Europeans crying into their pillows at night. Can't believe I just wrote that last sentence, but there you go...
More and more tests are coming out as the enthusiast community & journalists alike are scratching their collective heads in dismay as to why the GT3 punches so far above it's weight in regards to the 'competition' it isn't supposed to compete with given the price point.
It's the engine stupid. The engine. The heart of every car. Among it's many other attributes.
Torque is a beautiful thing. But you have to ask why the guys at Autocar just ranked the McLaren 650S - a V8 twin turbo mid-engine, carbon fiber wonder car with nearly 200 more hp so far down on the list than the 458S, GT3, the Cayman GTS and to some even the Corvette! All NA. And some are slower.
And this test was done with Ferrari's very "special" 458 Speciale - if you get my drift...

Yup. This.
I will buy both a GT3 RS and a GT2 RS, but if the GT3 RS is turbo, then it's not a GT3 RS. Period. If they call it simply a 991 Carrera RS (and make it turbo), then it's cheating, but I suppose they can get away with it.
I'd be quite disappointed without both a GT3 RS and a GT2 RS in the 991 generation, though.
Wow these arent far away now! I remember when 991 GT3 prototypes started testing in USA - it was only 2-3 months out from official announcement....
I dont like the look however. The wider body with the rear fender turbo ports dont do it for me and Ive never been a fan of double bubble roofs other than on original Aston Zagarto race cars (they have zero practical significance today and are just a retro fad). The wider front fenders and the especially the rear bumper treatment look a bit clumsy I think.
Anyway I think there must be an announcement before Xmas. Its possible I guess they wont use a show?
Ive just recently had confirmed 4.0L, 510bhp, 340lbft
Sorry mate they did not. It was actually the first "official" comment Ive received on the car and was interested about the comment on HP being approx 510.
