Default GT3RS w/ 94 Miles or 991.2 GT3?

Hi all,

I have an Oct build 991.2 GT3 on order and have the opportunity to pick up an RS with 94 miles on it. The RS is going to be more expensive but not faster. I've been wanting an RS but the rational side of me is having a hard time justifying the price delta. I also worry that the value of the RS will take a hit when the .2 comes out. But still - it's an RS!

Looking for opinions on which path to take on this one.... Would also like to hear opinions on a fair price. It's a $210k msrp car so it's pretty loaded but does have 18ways instead of buckets.

Thanks!
Barry

I would not be concerned about the value dropping. The RS will hold up pretty well but it depends if you are paying a mark-up which then could be a small concern

The only (2) factors would be the price delta and which car you want more. If you like the RS better than the GT3 from an aesthetic standpoint than may be worth the delta. But if you like them both equally than I would save yourself the money and go with the .2

tough choice. If you want a manual then its a no brainer, GT3.2. However, the RS is such a killer machine- it looks insane and special just sitting still. I often go into the garage to look at mine. I cant give mine up, so to my wifes dismay I'm keeping my RS and getting a manual GT3.2, best of both worlds. Good luck with choice. No bad choices here. What a great time to be a car lover.

Have the 18w makes the car much more usable / wife friendly.

When I bought the RS looked to change them out - today no way!

RS all day long - no one even knows if there will be an RS.2 or the units.

RS.2 is confirmed, and RS.1 will take an even bigger hit. Already down close to msrp.

If you already have a October build, and it's not pdk, stick with .2 GT3 and consider a .2 RS in 2 years.

If your order is for a PDK .2, I'd probably grab the RS!

Good luck with your choices!

Best Regards,
Dave

You can assume both cars are equal in performance. The RS has more of a cache and road presence. But the .2GT3 has a racing motor and can be had with MT. Also, more importantly, the .2GT3 can be spec'ed by you. The very strong rumor is the .2GT3RS will be introduced next year in Geneva. Once its announced the RS will suffer more depreciation especially if Porsche offers the .2 in MT.

If you can get your hands on an early .2GT3 buy it and turn it in to the dealer in order to get an allocation for the .2RS when it's announced next year.

Hi all - thanks for the feedback. My .2 order is a pdk car as I really enjoyed the pdk in my .1 GT3. I know there's a lot of support for the MT but there's just something about banging off instantaneous shifts at 9k rpm that is unlike anything I've experienced in MT cars.

For the record, I've got >100 days on track with MT cars and can heel & toe without thinking about it so my pdk preference is not because I wear a skirt wearing, man-bag carrying Metrosexual (not that there's anything wrong with that!) who can't drive a MT!

Could care less about depreciation it's going to age extremely well .2RS is a rumor if it's built who knows how many in 2 years that's a long time as is October - he can have the RS today - anyone considering an RS vs GT3 look at history the RS is more desirable.

I don't think you can make any such assumption and the implication that the RS is all about more cache strikes me as ludicrous. I feel confident in saying you have never driven an RS.

If you want to drive today buy 991.1rs. Can you wait until Nov? Buy 991.2gt3. Are you happy to wait until next summer for a new car? Buy 991.2rs.

Oh, and by the way. 991.2rs won't be offered with MT.
