I'm going through this same struggle - but whether to keep RS or trade it for the new .2 GT3. The RS is just amazing on the track. And it looks awesome. I'm not as concerned about the depreciation - I think it's hard to enjoy a car when you obsess about the value. I struggle with how the GT3 could be materially better. And how terrible the break in period on the MT would be...

The performance level of both are off the hook. Comparable for sure.
I will say that PDK definitely suits these cars and enables you to really enjoy the performance capabilities.
I have also also noticed that the PDK brings out a real race car character with this car in sound the way the exhaust sound snaps on shifts with the whip fast gear changes. Very race car. You won't get that aural character with an mt.

Interesting observation Waxer. I started noticing something like that too when you look at youtubes. There is not a lot of footage on the MT GT3.2 at the moment. But the few I have seen do seem to suggest the engine is a bit "lazier" in the MT. It sounds like it revs slower. Might be just the way of driving offcourse, we'll see when more vids become available.
But it sure looks a lot of the racecar-like aggression is gone with the MT.

Now for the biggest reason for a new .2, the price and performance. I love the fact that for +- $40-50k less for the new .2 than a used .1RS, you will have a newer version of the 4.0 with better all around performance. The fact that it will be my personally specd car along with the better performance, lower price and newer infotainment/rear camera/sat radio(doesn't matter to most but matters to me on long trips or driving to the track, lol), its a no brainer for me. The only positive I see going with the .1 RS over the .2 3 is that the RS might look better to some, not all(that's obviously an opinion) and might hold value, but I don't care about value I just want to drive these cars and enjoy them.
OP, good luck with your decision, you honestly can't go wrong with either of these badass cars.

For a lot of people the RS is non-starter just for the way it looks. A bit much in terms of vents and the wing. The GT3 is not subtle either but toned down quite a bit comparatively. For those where the GT3 is a bit much, there's the GTS.
If you have the financial means, pick the one you want and forget about everything other than enjoying the car. How many times do you live?

It does show that with pretty much every luxury brand; cars that are available in both manual and automatic tend to be much more valuable as manuals once they've aged.
My guess is manual transmission 991.2 GT3's will eventually be worth more than the 991.1 RS. To me, the 991.2 GT3 is already more valuable and I have no interest in a .1 RS. The new GT3 also has the better motor.
As far as the GT3 RS history goes; I honestly think that over time the 991.1 RS will be looked back upon as one of the lesser desirable variants due to the motor and transmission. The .2 has the potential to be the opposite.

History doesn't have an example where we could compare an aged MT GT3 with a PDK RS.
