Regular black was PTS on my '11 RS. No cost on my Cayenne or Turbo.

I could not agree more. Regardless of your wealth, you reach a point where expensive toys do not significantly add value to your life. Cars priced above 300K have marginal benefits other than the right to say you own one. If that's the case, one's self image my have a problem.

It would be nice if in conjunction with a 911 reaching the 300K threshold all the builds on this car were at least available with PTS for the additional cost . It would at least give you the ( perhaps misplaced ) impression that you were a special customer . I've still got smoke coming out of my ears on not being able to get it on my GT3 RS . This is a separate topic , but at least in Canada VW is going to offer the Golf R in about 30 special colors for the '18 model year for around $3000 . Still awaiting the '18 order guide for the US to come out to see if we get it . Might be nice if Porsche could offer up a set of colors that you KNEW you could get at additional cost even if it wasn't true ''PTS'' .

at the end of the day despite specialty cars like 911R, GT3RS, GT2RS etc...porsche makes SO MANY cars that they have a super strict production deadline schedule. They try to not hold a ton of inventory on stuff like Carbon seats, carbon hoods etc because at 7500/10k a piece or whatever on a big scale it's a waste of capital. so, they depend on their suppliers to deliver JUST ON TIME which with painted or paint match custom colors it can create delays. delays cost money. etc.

it would be great if the GT cars were a totally separate department vs the rest of everything but they assemble a GT2RS in the same fashion at same factory as a 911 C2S and to avoid clogging the funnel they only allow a certain prescription % of PTS etc.

What is the GT2RS's performance direct competitors?

488? 720S?

What are those prices? The GT2RS is competitive.

The kicker is that a 720S will depreciate, a 488 will likely or appreciate, at least for the sort term, a GT2RS will likely also appreciate.

That is the end of the argument.

At $300,000 plus, I am not sure it will appreciate in the short term.

488's are not appreciating at all...if you are seeing people pay over they are going to get murdered.

agreed. price, economy, and non-limited production suggests post-sale appreciation won't be a slam dunk.

Low mileage ones are selling 20k under MSRP, and the people that paid over got killed.

488's are not appreciating. I've already had a 488 gtb and spider and they are going down. They'll go down even faster now that Ferrari is not making the California's and pumping out more 488's...

Maybe I am one of the few here knowing that the price range of the GT2RS opens a lot more options like 720S, Ferraris etc, but honestly, I want the GT2RS and if I don't get one I will not buy anything instead and happily continue with my GT3RS.
I think a lot of folks here will not go cross shopping if they don't get an allocation.
Deposit paid. Let the games begin...

These GT2 Rs are another unicorn. Allocations are going to be so low that pricing conversations are irrelevant for all, but a few customers.

Yeah, they may not have a lot of allocations but I would bet that the demand for the GT2RS is much lower than the demand for the GT3RS.
