You're absolutely right except the "have nots" are the ones that "have not" the 150k they just suffered in depreciation with the release of the 991.2 GT3.

The "haves" are those of us that still have our money.

Everyone has its own point of view. After all, a great majority of people who posted here are real PORSCHE owners and are passionate of their PORSCHE models we own.
Min/Max Pricing (Bracket):
997.2 4.0 - Limited to 600 copies, on average depending on condition US$550K
991.1 GT3RS - Plus or minus 4,000 copies world wide, on average depending on condition US$10K to US$75K over MSRP
911R - Limited to 991 copies, asking US$400K on up depending on options and mileage.
991.2 GT3 - Mine configured with PDK came up at US$177K

This thread - The entertainment value alone, Priceless.

To OP, GLWS. Someone out there will take on your car. If it had LWBS, your 911R may have been gone, I think.

I feel the same way about all GT cars. Awesome models, not worth a penny over MSRP. That's my philosophy. I'll say the same thing about any of them. I don't discriminate.

Agreed. ADM is for suckers. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another brand if I couldn't get a GT Porsche for sticker. They are great cars, but not worlds better than some other cars nowadays. Plus, if the global economy turns south, those that paid ADM are in the red big time.

The only sour people in this equation is those that paid above MSRP for the 911R. Objectively (mechanically) and subjectively (styling) the 991.2 GT3 is superior in every way.

Numbered plaque? Great psychological gimmick though to hold values. If they were not numbered and 3000 were made we wouldn't be having this discussion. I find people defending 911R values in denial about the truth. The entire value of the car was it being based off the fact it was going to be the last manual, but it's not so it's small potatoes now. 991.2 GT3 is the car to get and hold onto until we see what the next GT3 RS entails.

I've yet to meet and talk to in person, not on a forum, someone who bought an R that thought it was worth a penny more than MSRP.

Every single one of them sold their cars.

Now don't get me wrong, they all said it's a great car and they really enjoyed it, but also realized the massive hype and cashed in big time.

Some of these guys have more than enough money to hang on to the car if they loved it that much...they all sold them.

Plus there's a ton of them for sale...you can't seem to walk in to a Porsche dealer without at least one to 4 of them there sitting for sale.

Agreed, if economy goes in the dumpster all cars will get hit hard. Discretionary items first. GT3.2, 911R, etc will drop. I get speculation on the drop in 911R prices because of the GT3.2. If someone were to tell me I could buy a great driving car and use it for a year or so, then sell it for what a 50K+ profit. I would say absolutely, in fact can I have another in a different color. As for the hypothetical 150K depreciation, that's paper money. The original owner still would not have lost any of his original capital and got to drive the car for a time. I'm thinking that is a great deal! Sorry some see the glass half empty and some see it half full.

I just hope that the Rs end up in the hands of people who drive them. Such finely crafted machines should be used, not just admired.

If prices fall enough then this will happen. Just as some of the flippable sneakers are now owned by people who play basketball in them.

It all depends on the price someone paid to get an R.

If MSRP, they can drive and enjoy it for years, and maybe not lose money due to depreciation if they eventually sell. That's a good deal. Or they can cash out now for a profit.

For anyone who vastly overpaid for one, the situation isn't good financially, but at least they can drive the car and try to enjoy it. It will always be a great car, just not worth what some paid.
