Spent the last three days in a row driving my beloved Japanese econobox (EVO IX). Big loop with golfnutintib and friends Sat, another over super crappy roads around Alpine Dam and Mt. Tam yesterday; West Marin loop around Nicasio and SFD today. The car is incredibly simple, responsive and amazing in crappy weather conditions. Maybe someday I'll hit the crack pipe of air cooled P cars, but for now, I'm pretty happy with this simple formula. Driving it often just reinforces that.
ChrisF, Great on the Mitsubishi!
After Spyrex costed me $1250 on tires I went out for 45min in my restored 240Z. I spent years restoring this car and it is just awesome. I6/Triple carb/lots of torque/etc.
Photo taken while idling and warming up before departure. Only 150miles on the odometer now.
I got home and I smell like oil and gas and shower will be in order before dinner table.

Igooz: Love that Z! My first car was a '73 240z in the same color with twin early SU's. Would love to drive one again some day. Have contemplated it but just don't have the space. Would love to see more pics!
^I remember!. Come on out and use the car this summer. Bring Mooty with you before he goes all EV. I have enough cars for you, and if I am not around my wife will be happy to get rid of everything.
Monsoon weather broke and the sun came out yesterday, so the first ~500k was logged in the 86. Carbon monoxide detector and fire extinguisher at hand.
Verdict: Ummm.. anyone want to buy a 991.2 GT3?
Per photo, also spent the weekend stripping the interior and removing wiring "additions" added by POs over the last 30 years.. much anger control required.. why anyone could do such garbage work on such a lovely car is beyond me. historical water leaks rotted carpets and insulation badly, but that's an easy fix. new OEM carpets and such ordered up for installation in the new year. next big decision: seat inserts, cause if I have new carpets I can't leave the "patina'ed" (lol) seats as-is, now can I? SCHOTTENKARO GREEN - BLUE vs. KARO BLUE MADRAS. Hmmmmm. I lack the courage to go full 80s. I.e. Pascha.
Bonus points: 7 year old helped with all the work removing the interior and wiring. he's gotten good with the screwdriver. Screws. So easy. What a concept! First time doing such extensive disassembly of a vehicle, was super, super awesome have the little guy going through youtube videos with me before pulling everything apart. #winning . (the teenagers are too cool to care; their loss. the little guy gets the car when he's 16. they're getting a PoS late 2000s fiesta)
8" front and rear. Basically a motocross bike without an ICE.

If you like Highland you'll luv Killington. Fast lifts, tons of vertical, and sweet trails.

Nice Zed. I owned one for about 6years straight out of University. It was great - one of those that I should have kept but then there are a few cars I could say that about. Just me and girl friend then (now wife) and with only 1 car I needed to get a bit more practical for a while. Now have reverted and 2 seats fine. And Chris's 4wd rally rep. Also Great here is mine - may as well rally it. Wouldn't treat my RS like this (track ok though). From this years 5 day rally. Woohoo!
well looks like everyone is having fun....
today, the wife told me I need to get on the bike and start riding... perhaps she saw the bill of my "retail therapy"... it is now scaring me too.
rode easy today, seems ok, leg didn't fall off.
above is this year.
would have been 1000 miles and 100,000' higher.. but broken thumb, rain, infected knee... slowed me down
ChrisF: longhand, 914, 356 are bad drugs.. you should stay away from it. if you think GT3 are $$$, think again, they are bargains even at $500k, spyerX long hood will be $300k in 6 months. my 914/6 cost more than 991.2RS now.... well not done yet. so stay the hell away.
igooz, you have some real gems. e30 s14 and now 240Z...
I finally drove taycan... I hate ev
but this is different. it's fast and it handles really really well.
you don't feel the wt.
after that, 991GT3rs felt really slow, really really slow.
my CTT, I thought I had my E brake on as I drove it home.
the sport tourismo I floored it all the way home and thought it was parked
P100S is fast but it's a pos, stuff falls off, and the gaps are well... they workers are mostly likely BLIND.
I would not touch a Tesla if they paid me to drive it.
and I do not let any tesla come close to MO.
luckily I am broke now. else I would have just driven the turbo S taycan home.
so someone buy the 964RS, 993RS and P4 sport tourismo.
the ST is 140k msrp, will take 93

Mooty, wife says you did really great! She pedals like you do and was a semi pro when I was young.
Merry Christmas to you and hopefully you will be 100% healthy.
