Don't know the answers, but the fact that they drastically reduced the stiffness of the valve springs and the friction with the cams should help that interface (whatever the material).

I am really curious to see the top end of this engine and the finger followers or whatever they are using. With a high rpm engine I'm sure they were afraid of valve float so they increased the valve spring rate which put too much pressure on the follower. I guess better to have some worn followers than bent valves.

I'm not sure how they have addressed potential valve float while reducing the force on the follower?

I think getting rid of the hydraulic lifters (and their more elastic/bouncy nature) allowed for more precise positioning of the valves with less pressure.

BOOM, this is the one I was waiting for. So what do we have ? CG does a 7:24 in the GTS and a 7:18 in the .2 GT3
Performance difference with the same driver in the car is 6 seconds. GTS was not on semislicks. Oh boy, that GTS is good !
Still glad I'm getting the GT3 though.

Actually the GTS ran on Pirelli P Zero Corsa N0, so tyres were comparable... Still quite a result for the GTS.

Ah, ok, but still...
Again an illustration of how difficult it will be to sustain a NA GT line in the future ?! Competition is growing ...
The GT3 still has the heritage, the passion, the raise your arm hairs x factor. It's in a niche of its own. But there's no denying cold hard performance !

These days cold hard performance is a commodity easily found. Something exciting and emotional to drive is a rarity...

extra
Some words: Lap was driven the same day as Porsche's 7.12,7, also with the same car. This particular car has no satnav and infotainment systems (saves 7,8 kg) but it has rollcage (+20 kg) and Cup-raceseats (+9 kg).

Amazing that Porsche achieves that with 160 hp and 221 ft-lbs less power and torque! I guess mid-engine isn't always faster than rear-engine...

Anyone notice that the seat was neither the standard seat nor the buckets?
