I was given a V070 status back in July, and was advised that, based on the dealership experience and expectation, I will get an allocation with a winter/spring delivery . So, it was an expectation for an allocation initially, based on trusting the dealerships word. Had a hard time holding on to that trust, what with all the hubbub here at RL. That trust was justified, with the news of a V200 status and expected arrival. The allocation is now real.

Got a call from my dealership yesterday. I was expecting mid-Jan delivery but my car is at port and being loaded on a ship. They think I will have by Dec 20th or so. That is almost more than a month sooner than I was told a few weeks ago. Nothing wrong with sooner...

Thanks for the insight. Is V070 a demand order or something more? Did you also place a deposit at that time?

Just trying to understand the mechanics.

That’s awesome! Seems to be a lot of posts about early deliveries. Anybody know why?

Okay, here's how the mechanics goes as I understand it. V070 is a request for an allocation with your name on it sent by the dealer to Porsche. The dealership knows how many allocations they will get, either based on past experience or actual numbers. If the allocation request with your name on it is within their expected number of actual allocations, then it is quite likely you will get a car. I was told mine was within their usual and expected number of allocations. And yes, I left a deposit to lock in that expected allocation. Once that request is approved by Porsche and attaches an actual build allocation to it, the status goes from V070 to V200. That deposit goes towards the final car payment once the car arrives. Nothing is certain or guaranteed, really. It all comes down to trust and ethics. The mechanics will work well if ethical people are involved. Nothing will work well in the absence of trust and ethics. Nothing ever does without it.

Figured I'd jump in too. I have the same v070 order now, was told for a Nov/Dec build in 2018. Dealer is a stand up guy, I trust him. Bought my first 997 c2s from him. Said with the regular 911 coming up on a model change, and production ramping down for that car, they would step up production on gt3 .2 cars and continue delivering into 2019. I get this is not a guarantee, a lot could change between now and then. I trust him and remain optimistic. He said I'd get an allocation in a year, possibly less and I'm good with it. He seems pretty certain about all of this. Worst that can happen is I won't.

Looks like Porsche is ramping up the number of .2GT3s being built...makes a lot of sense since 2 good guy dealers told me they are barely getting any kind of non-GT 911s. Build baby build!

I'd be willing to bet anyone (for charity) that they will keep building GT cars well into 2019....there's too much demand in North America not to.

They may be starting the segway in to the 992

What better time to fill the gap for several months just running GT3s

UK dealers are telling people they're not getting cars having got less allocations than hoped, lots of conflicting information at the moment

^ I am sure every Dealer can sell double their allocation. They are all probably pushing PAG to just run as much as you can.

I bet they are all horse trading for other models that PAG wants them to move
