So less than a quarter of total production. Interesting.

with a Honda engine that actually worked back then

Yes but Senna and Prost (particularly Senna) were a hundred orders of magnitude more awesome than anything that came before or after, so there's that.

Time Out.

Since (Senna), maybe
Before: Nuvolari, Fangio, Clark

Carry on...

Ok, ok... on a grand scale, I'll give you Nuvolari and Fangio. I'll even throw in Gilles V.

But McLaren-wise, it was Senna and Prost and the rest is a rounding error.

Senna fans are irrational, best not to argue with them. Anyone who idolizes someone who intentionally crashes people out on the first corner of the race doesn't think clearly.

So it seems.......

I count myself as a Senna fan too but McLaren also had James Hunt, Niki Lauda and Mika Hakkinen besides Lewis.

I don't know man... Maybe a bit but remember that those v6s put out almost 1,500hp in qualifying tune. Cars had manual shifters, very little in the way of electronic aids. Those were real men's racecars, and real men racers.

What about those primitive old McLaren Orange sleds with limited aero and crappy old tires? Those were the REAL MEN

Nice video by HC

Jim Clark was perhaps the best driver you'll ever see - 25 wins from 72 starts and 2 time WC (even took time off to win the Indy 500). Ayrton Senna was also very good 41 wins from 161 starts and 3 times WC.

Theres a youtube movie of Jim Clark winning at Spa in the rain - he lapped the entire field, putting him 8 miles ahead. Basically he won 1 in three races, Senna won 1 in 4 (as did Prost and Stewart).

Really the three best drivers are Clark, Fangio and Schumacher (all won better than one in three races)

I spent almost an hour driving around in a 570GT last weekend and it was amazing. I drove a 570s a year ago for a couple of miles but it was too short to really settle in. Once I settled in the 570GT it really made me wonder why I was always going crazy trying to get a GT car.

It really was a fantastic car. I haven't been able to get it off my mind since.
