If you are going to get the Mclaren extended warranty, you have pay to get the car inspected by the Mclaren dealer or it could be done during a service or the PPI. The dealer will also run the VIN to verify it hasn’t been flagged for any unapproved mods. As for the paint issues, common primer failures led to small spots of corrosion. My dealer had the fender and hood replaced and repainted. Your car could have been spot repaired and repainted resulting in the paint thickness variations on the same part.

I'm now wondering if maybe the quarter panel was repainted in the factory, hence greater paint thickness?

Moving forward with purchase of this car. Paint specialists have looked at the paint, and 99% sure the car hasn't been in an accident. There is either some variation in the thickness of the paint from original painting, or some panels were repainted by McLaren in the factory or port.

I have about 600 miles on my McLaren in less than two weeks, and so far the driving experience is beating all eight of my Porsches. If the car proves reliable, it was a bargain. If it has some issues that cost me less than $20k in repairs over the next two years, it was still a very good buy, because the driving experience is THAT good.

Enjoy in good health, mine was good to me for 3 years and it will spoil you when you get back into your Porsche ……..it will feel very under powered, but it’s a good balance of the two brands. Mclaren dealers are great, but HQ sucks when when the dealers have to deal with them.

Anyone living with an Artura? Would appreciate ownership feedback.

I'll just pop in here to say that I now have over 1k miles on my 570 and it's still my favorite car. It's in a different league from Porsches, a proper sports car. So much fun to drive.

No Artura experience, but 4 years/16k miles in a 570S and 3 years/11k miles in a 720S, flawless reliability, existential performance. I was a long-time Porsche owner and I am super impressed with McLaren.

Nice, will fully explore, thanks. Hoping for some feedback from any GT owners since we're all similarly jaded.

I bought a 675LT and it's the best car I have ever owned. I still have my .2 RS and its comes a very close 2nd best car I have owned. they achieve their greatness in different ways, but both make me smile every time I drive them

I think the above post sums it up perfectly. It doesn't have to be one is better than the other. If you can have two cars in your stable, then I would strongly urge anyone to add a Mac. It is a totally different driving experience. Is it better or worse? That does not have to be the question Having one of each is truley the best of the best for driving pleasure and putting a smile on ones face. I have to flip a coin to decide which keys to grab on a sunday morning.

What would you like to know ? It’s a noticeable upgrade from a TTS. Lighter, mid engined, better balanced, billionaire doors, v8, drama, fast. It can’t do the incognito trick at the grocery store, or the drag strip launch. It’s a little bit like a Roma in spirit. More touring, a pinch less super. Both cars are fantastic. It suffers in comparison to cars costing $100k more. It’s a lot of car for the money, if you want something a little flashier than the 911

This Artura feedback? Have impressions of McLaren ownership in general, models to date, wondering if anyone is putting consistent miles on the Artura and how it's going.

Some good feedback on the McLaren forum linked above. But do run into commentary that makes me wonder about how quality/reliability are interpreted for this marque:

Most of my issues have been minor. No real big quality issues. It is in service for its first oil change and SW update. Hopefully the update will fix the entertainment screen from not booting up sometimes. Twice a drivetrain error and limpmode came on. I think due to the number of sensors in the car, by leaving it alone (locked) for 5-10mins, seems to reset everything.

To McLaren's credit, "Artura Peace of Mind" warranty is clearly aimed at inspiring confidence in new customers. And nice to have a straightforward conversation with a dealer, 5-6 months from order to delivery.
