theoretical question: could it happen that the 991.2GT3 will get another engine than the 991.2Cup has?
or is starting from now the 4.0DFI a "fact" (with around 485hp)

i do like the .2 front as i like the .1 front.
.2 front looks a bit more like the upcoming Ford-GT (based on the sharp top-lip + retroverted down lip...) + a lot of fantasy
it looks more aggressive - but less unique Porschisch

thank you NateOZ!

Are there any different parts comparing the 4.0l DFI 991.1RS engine and the 4.0l DFI 991.2Cup engine?
.2Cup SpareParts manual is not yet available i guess...

Oh my. This is awful. I'm second on the list for the .2 GT3. But i really, REALLY don't like the front. The .1 car is sooooooooooo much prettier, so much more homogenous design wise. Seriously considering just keeping my carrera and adding a 997 CUP to the stable instead of upgrading it to a .2 GT3.

Edit: That new, too long sharklike nose reminds me of a crossbreed between the 928 and the Marcos Mantis noses !

Agree the front lip looks a bit ford like and less like a Porsche. And just no need for them to mess with the front lip or the rear lights until the 992 generation.

I'm bummed because I'm on the list to get a 991.2 GT3 next year with European delivery, and I'm excited for the 4.0 engine, and likely improved PDK-S and RWS, but I'm disappointed that the the .2 GT3 won't look as good as my .1 GT3.

i was sleeping up till now and scared about turbo GT3. You are, as i am, from the old world - may we can do an allocation swap into my direction of your .2GT3?

Rosen. remember this is typical Porsche Marketing speak.

The prior cup was 3.8L & 460 Mezger (my mistake in prior translation of Paris launch report earlier today).

Remember the engine in this car has been in existence well before its R debut at Daytona in Jan.

Indeed it is all new...compared to the Cup before...

Just very very curious as to the changes to this motor versus current RS motor. And if you read the brochure above they have almost doubled the intervals for transmission and engine (now 100 hours).

Does anyone know why Porsche doesn't use the RS front fenders?

357kw @ 7.500 rpm, max rpm 8.500. May that be a hint to what we will get with the .2 GT3? If yes, I'm glad to have the "old" one and his perfect match of porsche design and modernism (don't like the new hammerhead fb).

Its curious I agree.

Ive been told off record that the valve train differs. Something they learned between Nov 2015 & Jan 2016 from the race DFI development program. Maybe they are super satisfied their new dlc cam lobes and new DLC rocker coatings are going to do the job?

Its interesting the car is turned for torque not power. Its making 485 bhp (less than RS) but its making 354lbft torque (480nm) more than RS.

The rev limit is set at 8500 but its making peak power at 7500 and I peak torque is over by 6250 (very close peak power and torque figures here).

Its a pretty lightly stressed valve train, with obviously oiling and coating improvements etc.

Id like to see some tangible changes in the 991.2 GT3 engine when it launches to address the issues. If its just DLC coated cams then Ill stay with my 991.1 GT3 and get those for free when the current set are toast. Id like to hear there is a new "crows foot" rocker or oil system or something tangible I can believe in LOL!

It looks great and is NA. Pretty much what we will expect in the 991.2 GT3. Any of you complaining anout the front of the car being ugly, I have a few friends that will take over your deposits.
