Fellers,
Anyone here run your GT3 / RS at a drag strip? Any idea on the effectiveness of launch control versus just stepping on it?
I find launch control has excessive wheel spin but then again, not much LOVE below 4500 rpm.
Anyone have timeslips / 60 foot times for launch control or non-launch control?
Thanks.

I did some local 1/8th mile drag racing using LC car did have much more wheel spin than I anticipated, I have not tried it without LC but will net time. The car does good ran 7.8 with bad traction.

With 1/8 time of 7.8, this translates in a 1/4 mile time of 12.1-12.2 seconds, which is significantly slower than the published 11.3 times.
This strongly suggests that launch control is worse for acceleration then stomping on it.
Thanks..... Need to try both...with timeslips.

The one time I just stomped on the accelerator from a dead stop the car revved up to I think around 7000 rpm and took off. I didn't get a chance to time it or compare it back to back with an LC launch, but it was quick. I'm not sure how different they would end up.

I probably will never take my car to the drag strip but this is a interesting thread. I totally understand this car wasn't made for drag stripes. That being said It is still quick and it would be nice to see some real world times.

I do AX and track events with the car but thought it might be a kick to try the drags had not done that for 30 years or so. The car seems to be a big hit with the spectators, they don't think the car will be that fast. I want to try 1/4 mile next I think the times maybe very close to the 11.3 claims with good traction. It was doing 95 mph at the 1/8th and car seems to be very fast beyond that.

Here's a scenario..... Red light into a 2 lane merge for freeway entry. A C7 Z06 Vette pulls up beside you.... What is the best launch method to ensure the Z06 enjoys the smell of Zuffenhausen exhaust? Launch Control or not?
I can't answer this question today.

I haven't seen a magazine or social media type belittle porsche's launch control. In fact, watch the 50 x's in a row with the Turbo video. All within a tenth of a sec. Assuming the surface is good for launching, I doubt any driver would do better. Besides.....you didn't buy a drag car.
