That floor looks really good. What is it?

I had an Autostacker in my previous garage in San Diego and really liked it too. Would have put one in our new garage here in NorCal as well but my garages are really small and I needed the absolute smallest footprint possible which meant a 4 post. But dealing with the ramps with a 4 post is a real pain compared to the Autostacker. And the AS is also better at managing up/down with simpler controls (especially locks). I also like that the platform has a bit of slope since it can help with ceiling height a bit.

Cool!

Ramps are a pain, put on and off and store in the garage. I also back onto my 4 post, so my 2 air coolers take a little extra time to align properly as they are narrower. I'm all about ease of use next one I put in. Not that a 4 post is hard work, but whatever makes it easier is better.

Yeah, I'd recommend the autostacker. Note that I forgot to mention the 2 main disadvantages vs 4 post: 1) it's harder to get in and out of the lower car because of the scissor mechanism in the way of the doors (this is why people recommend the wider one if you have the space but I didn't. Not a huge deal but something to think about - especially if you will be leaving the upper car up there for long stretches but using the lower car frequently. 2) It's purely a parking lift and provides no access to the car underbody. A 4 post lift is not the same as a working lift which makes wheel removal easy but having access to the underbody sure makes things like oil changes a lot easier...

Good points. Possible to place some padding on the scissors in case of door impact?

I tend to rotate the cars every few weeks. Less of swapping within the same week. Perhaps AS would encourage more frequent use, since the process is simpler.

Yes, it comes with foam padding (and you can order more from the company if you want to do both sides which I did) and that helps prevent door dings - which I was always able to avoid, But it still limits how wide you can open the door and if it is a wide 2 door car with wide sills and long doors (cough Ferrari cough) it makes getting in and out just a bit more of a cautious exercise than normal. Manageable for sure but just something to be aware of.

And on your second point, I think AS definitely tends to make you more likely to swap frequently. The "maybe I should drive the top car to the store today..." thought tends to turn into "sure, let's do it" more often than "nah, it will be a pain, I'll drive that one next time I have a good reason to."

F-car is a few years out for me....some day. Ultimate dream, though direction is changing from what I liked about them. Might have to visit the back catalogue. 458 I think was really the epitome for their regular sports car series. All p cars for now.

Yeah it's real, those with lifts would likely all agree. Don't really think that would be an issue before a lift enters your life, I didn't anyway.

Been debating 2-post vs 4-post for a couple years now, and finally about to pull the trigger on 2-post. Storage is the more frequent use, but wrenching the more important use. Need to drop 996TT motor and gearbox this fall, for welding coolant lines and sending gearbox to CMS, so it's finally time. Over/under vehicles include the 996TT, GT3, and F-350 crew cab short bed. Too many toys and not enough storage capacity!

Ok, I read every page, took me about a month.
You guys have some incredible cars, homes, and garages.
Congratulations, I’m nowhere close to y’all.

For the white trash members such as myself, there’s hope.
You can do like I did and get the rennlist mega garage starter kit.

thanks to @mile2424 for the artwork. Great and easy to deal with. 👍
