Thanks hfm! I enjoyed watching that. Some details from the video that interested me. AP says the RWS is recalibrated to feel more like the GT4, with even better steering feel, also revised. The single mass flywheel is apparently a little less noisy than the 997 RS 4.0, but hopefully still sounds heavenly! And this may not be the last of the driver's, pure, "feel" cars--depends on what we as customers say, since Porsche is listening to us. I say, yes please!!! I think the philosophy of divergent streams of GT cars (performance + track-oriented vs pure + enjoyment-focussed) sounds just about perfect. I agree with the comments earlier that this R might be a wonderful counterpart to the RS. So far, this car is living up to my expectations! Can't wait to hear and see more!

A couple of ways to look at it.
The good news is that Porsche hooked up the 4.0 to a MT. Most likely 991gt3 gen2 will be 4.0l and possible to order with MT.
911R looks really good IMO. It's not made for me. Personally I'm a bit disappointed with the lack of effort for a real lightweight.
Would be amazing with manual seats/windows/ mirrors. A different center console with old fashion switches.

I'm excited that I think this means a 4.0L .2GT3 with a manual option
And I'm disappointed at their lack of effort to make a truly light and back to basics car. They could have removed a lot more from the interior, including the panamera center console.

At that price, seems that the car is mainly intended to generate profits to make up for the losses associated with the engine replacements. I can see the appeal for people who want a new manual 911, but pricing it $55K more than the GT3 is unjustifiable (setting aside collectability considerations).
I personally am not a fan of the aesthetics either. GT3 looks more 'right' to me, RS looks more extreme (as it should). R looks like a modern car pretending to be an old classic by borrowing some old clothes.

i still guess the 911R is the last N/A 911. in other words the 991.2 GT3+RS will be Turbo.
(Edit: why? because whole 911 range is already turbo. they would loose credibility ("board/public meaning") if GT will stay N/A. they have to go turbo for laptimes and further for homologation. TurboS is already faster than GT3RS. McL and Ferrari are "far away" with laptimes.)
somebody with me on this side?
but MT on 991.2 i could imagine.
