I just traded my 2015 GT3 for another 2015 GT3 today so I thought I might share some details of the transaction as they seem relevant to this thread. I hope I don't open myself to criticism.
I did the series of courses in Birmingham in January, February and March of this year. Got out of a Turbo S and straight into a GT3 on the track at Barber. Came home determined to trade my Turbo for a GT3. Bad timing. Had only two wishes: LWBs and front axle lift. Dealer and VIP had one (minus axle lift) with only 175 miles that he was unable to sell me. Bought a car with 1100 miles in April for 154k (144k MSRP) that had neither option. Attended eight track events, trailered the GT3, and did not drive it on the street except to put some gas in it that was cheaper than trackside. Decided axle lift was unnecessary but still coveted the buckets. Saw the same car that I wanted to buy in April for sale in Virginia consigned at another dealer. Negotiated for a couple of days and agreed on a difference this morning. Went into my local dealer within an hour to change rear tires which were shot before putting it in the trailer for the trip to Virginia and mentioned I was buying the car I wanted back in April to my salesman. The dealership calls the owner (consigner) who has a RS on order with them and asks (tells?) him to sell it to them. I paid an extra $1500 to not have to make the 14 hour (one way) drive and traded my GT3 to my local dealer.
I paid a difference of 24k including shipping to go from 2015 GT3 with 3450 miles to one with 700 miles with LWBs. My 144k MSRP car got 135k from dealer and I paid $157500 for the $145500 MSRP one with 700 miles. My tax savings were about 9k with a trade as opposed to a private sale. Obviously I am not an expert but I think 10k over MSRP is plenty currently. I think the market is going to see more GT3's with the VIPs taking delivery of their RSs. Please don't tell me how stupid I am.

GLWS KY.... It is a beautiful spec that I modeled my incoming '16 from.
Glancing through his FS thread, it is mentioned that "2016 allocations have increased dramatically. Lot of GT3 supply about to come to dealers."
Any credence to this? From what I understand '16s are still sparse, specifically a configurable allocation. It seems like PAG is happy to trickle them out and reward their volume dealers.

I'll bet you've had fun in the hunt for a car that had specific features important to you
and your fortunate to have the cash to park your butt in the buckets

You got to enjoy it for a couple of thousand miles and ended up getting what you wanted. 24k well spent. Congrats on the new ride.

The most important thing is you got what you wanted. And are enjoying your cars in the environment they are designed to be enjoyed. On track.
One question comes to mind. If you pretty much only track your car, doesn't any aftermarket bucket seats fit in the 991gt3?

I think that is a really good question. An aftermarket seat can be obtained for less than $1000! I was wondering what happens when you unplug from the existing seat as far as airbags or whatever. I guess I also thought that long term a car with LWBs might hold value better? I do have a history of trading early on and losing money on cars, however.
Frankly, I am not intimidated by the prospect of a GT3 Cup, but many people have advised me that is not a step to be taken lightly.
