I agree. Bring up the topic of depreciation on a GT3 and it's a taboo subject to some It's a car, and not a Picasso. Having an asset that doesn't lose value shouldn't be invested in a car they keep and will continue to crank out. Not to mention, 991.2's will be coming up in the near future.
The best measure of value is very recent sales. The market will speak either way.

I don't mean to impact someone's sale, but this is a good example of a car poised to sell a good bit below MSRP. 170K means about 40K in options which weren't selected by the new buyer, some of which may even be things the new buyer doesn't want, so the question isn't how much discount on the 40K but rather how much credit for the options (i.e., start from 0K, not 40K). 165K for a lightly used '14 GT3 seems high compared a brand new '16 RS with base price only 10K more.

Want to order a new one- I was told by a dealer yesterday $25k mkt adjustment- $50-75k on RS. Another dealer I'm hoping to land on a list at sticker and my old dealership may take care of me a bit IF I can get one.

The base price of the RS is a MOOT point! #1 You cannot get a RS. #2 none are base price. #3 No Porsche GT stays near base. If you want a car at all there is only a handful around- Cars are bringing near sticker to OVER!

While '16 GT3 allocations are scarce, I wouldn't expect to pay over MSRP for one, just as we didn't pay over MSRP for our GT4. I suggest that anyone expecting to pay $25K over MSRP for a new GT3 should shop around more, or just be more patient.
I have a vested interest in the prices of Porsche GT cars staying up, but I try to be realistic in my expectations of what the markets will do. Helps to try to get in the minds of both sellers and buyers.

GT3 and RS are different markets. I previously mentioned the RS only because the new price of an RS can affect perceived value for a GT3. And used price of an RS would likely depend a lot on whether it's a low-miles garage queen vs a high-miles heavily-tracked car.

I think it works more in the opposite direction of your previous post. The astronomical prices of RS ($300K is a good guess) will keep GT3 prices protected for some time, because there are no $175K GTS RS and won't be unless we start bombing Russia.

Real life, not exactly. Not many real life people can acquire a GT3 allocation for MSRP. The real life example of a GT3 allocation is $15-$35 over MSRP.

My car was 137k. At MSRP. I know there are allocations for 2016 GT3's and Future RS's at MSRP in the Midwest. It's good to be in flyover country

Too much uncertainty, and I didn't buy the car as an investment, so I just drive it and enjoy, and if I ever sell it, the price will be what it is.

I think a factor may also be the current slump in the stock market; folks may not want to liquidate at a low point to buy a depreciating asset and psychologically feel more "poor." I know I feel more cautious right now

I am hoping to get on the list at 2 of my local places - 1 of which I was there for 3yrs and a top salesperson. The premier dealer I know has spots taken of course and I doubt I'll be on the top of the call list.
Hoping but I really would like to do a--- PTS & euro delivery --- document the journey and spend time at my place in Verbier while we document some of the great driving roads etc.
FYI - I've even applied for the PCNA european delivery contract with our family travel agency (expertise) it could be interesting.
I have my first euro delivery I've assisted with on 10/1. GT3 RS in ultraviolet -
Sorry to get off topic- just been a bummer trying to roll these tax credits in my R8 & 911 into a GT3 build slot. I knew it would be tough- but geez..
