This car has nothing to do with the 911GT3R. It's a limited edition last of the N/A 991. I have no idea why they named it 991R. It's definitely confusing. I don't know this, but I don't think it will have anything to do with a GT car.
Maybe someone with more technical knowledge could explain. But to me it's unlikely Porsche would make a MT version hooked up to the 3.8l gt3 engine???
So my guess is that this will be a little more powerful GTS with MT only and some cool exterior pieces.
It's confusing cuz the title is misleading as there is a GT3 R race car that was recently released. The car the OP is talking about is some 991 with a GT3 engine that has a manual transmission.
It was confirmed to me by someone (I don't think I should mention his name) via AP (2 other Rennlist members can confirm they heard the same), that there is a narrow body 991 with a GT3 engine and manual transmission coming out as a street car. He didn't mention anything else.

Thanks for clarifying that it is the gt3 engine. I was doubting it because of the MT.

Can confirm the following
- Four Point Zero (RS Engine) Don't have HP figures - I would assume slightly detuned
- Emanual
- One hundred kilos lighter than 991 GT3
- GT3 Width rear
- Sans big wings

So they'll put the regular tuned 4.0RS engine in the .2 GT3 and a bigger engine in the .2RS?
Now you are getting me excited about the .2RS....good thing I got my name down on 3 GOOD dealer lists. I'm fully expecting to take delivery of the car by this time in 2018.
