Thanks for posting - though it looked more like a factory RSR doing some setup/testing before the 6 hour race coming up in a few weeks?

The title was wrong, the GT3 R isn't a mystery car - it's a proper factory race car priced/spec'd between the GT3 Cup and GT3 RSR. That's why people keep stopping by and posting about the GT3 R - needs a mod to fix it.

I see. I want to ask something. The GT3 R will be a road car due to some homologation or it will be strictly for track use like the Cup cars and RSRs?

Thank you.

Default Discussion of the GT3R not RS!

It seems like it would be exactly the opposite from a track car.. Manual transmission with less technology with skinnier tires for more over steering happiness.. Not a track car recipe, more of a throwback car recipe. That's why I hope they do the metal trim accents on it and tartan interior.. Make it full retro with a stonking gt3 engine it.. Like a factory built resto-mod if you will.

Thank you.
The homologation car for the 991 GT3 R is the 991 GT3 RS - you can see all the information here. They're running a 4.0L 9A1.

http://www.porsche.com/uk/motorsport...s/911gt3r-991/

Specifically: Basis: 991 GT3 RS

Price is about $US450k

For the track only. Will start racing in 2016 in the GT3 class around the world. It will be interesting to see how many teams race it. Porsche has lost a lot GT3 customers over the last few years. The 997 GT3 R has not been that competitive.

They're selling a hot rod to those that don't want to drive around town in a car with a big wing. There are a lot of us out there.

There is one testing at Sebring this week .

Good looking car. They were a bit secretive and " no pictures " was the rule of the day.
