Default Discussion of the GT3R not RS!

There has been information of a GT3R for 2016 release. Yet this car supossedly will only have 450 BHP. The next 911 Carrera S might have 450 BHP according to a few reputable online sources. Which makes me wonder if the GT3R will be some sort of cup car?

At this point I'm confused as to why Porsche would release a down rated in power GT3? At this point we are unsure to the purpose of this car. The only information I could find besides the sources that everyone has seen already is on Wikipedia saying that the car was underdevelopment for a 2016 release.

Does anyone have anymore information on this car yet? Further I doubt that the 991.2 Carrera S will jump 50 horsepower. Maybe 30 horsepower at the most, for instance the power kit will be standard. Who know's?

Thank you

I thought the GT3R was a race car? To fill gap between Cup and RSR.

I believe it was a street Carrera R model. Not a GT car. The R was mentioned as being NA.

The 991.2 Carrera S is going to be approx 420HP from various reports and will be turbo charged.

Yes, here is the link - I think he's referring to the rumored 911 R.

Very difficult to make sense of all the rumors and once removed "official" information. The 991.2 Carrera S is supposed to be available w/ an X51 powerkit that will take it to 450Hp so that's where that figure comes from, an additional 30HP over the base S 420. I think the real issue for what may be called the Carrera RS (homage to the 73 RS) is whether or not it is an ultra high end limited edition or a variant that can actually be acquired by mortals. I expect a stick and not PDK w/ a '70s RS themed interior and ducktail exterior. Maybe even the Carrera side script and Fuchs style wheels. Wide body. If the engine is from the GT3, or worse/better, the GT3RS, the price will be exorbitant. That's how I see the car fitting into the line up, but the numbers and price will tell the real story.

Thanks.

I think I was mistaken about the street model. I'd have to find that article and review it. With all the trim packages, I think the writer in the story may have mixed things up.

Its being billed as the GT3 R. Hope it's a stripper with manual like so many want. And at 4.0L with only 450 it don't make too much sense. But I'm not saying that is wrong either. Would be overly built with too much rotating mass for that power - why do that?

Just confirmed today. 991R is MT with no advanced aero and N/A. Kind of like a GTS with a few more horses.
