Seems like a MT 991GT3/RS is likely with the new R being hooked up to that engine!
Yes it is perfect time now:
It is old technology in the 4.0 that no one really wants.
I'll be nice to you and help you find a new home for the car.
Don't expect much $

Very strange ! And I doubt in it because Porsche is going to make Gt3 owners' very unhappy !
No pdk, no complicated aero, no rear steering wheels give less performance but with less weight and a detuned 4 liters engine (480 hp ?). It would very close ! Too much I Think.
I bet on a detuned 3.8 engine for 460 hp.

Furthermore at what price ?

More than a 991 gt3 but slower just to have a manual gear box ? I doubt also !
Less than an 991 gt3 Will be coherent

highly doubt this

4L RS engine? No way
Manual? Sure why not
100kg lighter than GT3? That would put it in Cup territory.
Gt3 Width? Yeah ok
Without wings? sure why not

You didn't - I was using the salesperson as an example for a much larger idea that no matter who says what about a specific car it cannot be trusted until you see the car on Porsche's website.

Is Emanual the guy who comes with the car to teach you how to handle a 9k rev limit with a stick? (Interpret as you wish)

But seriously, what an exciting idea this car is.. I'll add tartan seats and chrome window frames to my wish list.. A-la Classic.

It's happening.

If you break down the weight differential, could be something like this:

- Manual over PDK
- Ceramic as standard
- Magnesium Roof
- Carbon Bonnet
- I don't personally think they would omit the RWS

And don't forget, when manufacturers talk about a 100kg reduction, that is only if you do a radio and AC Delete, so in real world more like a 50-60kg differential when specced like for like.

I have to think PAG is not going to bring out a non GT model that in effect encroaches on the current GT line. Maybe a couple of generations down the road it would make sense and be completely understandable. Most likely they are looking at a quick way of selling another couple thousand or so cars by filling the space in between the GT3 and the GTS. Remember that 911sales are down YTD. Other than that I have a hard time envisioning what is it they are doing.

27 years ago there were only a few of us knuckleheads who went for a 911 Clubsport and have to say living without A/C was about the worst of it , but in this day and age people want all the toys - hard to see where the weight savings come from .

I guess instead of dropping all the toys...they just change more and more materials in body panels but its only keeping the weights flatlined not going down because they just add in more ****. Get rid of all toys and strip the bastard of everything that isn't required and lets roll. A lot they can still strip out to get more in the track spirit.

Default Update

Yesterday BMW was testing the upcoming M6 GT3 and after the official test a few more cars were passing by..so the new GT3 R made an appearance.

What you are describing will very likely be very limited and very costly which makes it very academic for the majority.

Default Discussion of the GT3R not RS!

I feel like we are discussing two different mystery cars. One camp is thinking the retro car with, manual, thin body, and gt3 engine. The other camp is discussing a quasi-race car. I'm not sure which to believe but except for a little article a few months ago promising the former, I've only seen evidence of the latter
