A known issue in the 997 GT3, unfortunately not corrected in the 991. I threw away first set of pads (track use of course) as they tapered down to 1mm in the front and had a good bit in the back. To avoid this on my current set (Pagid RS29, still did it), I had the pads recently flipped.

Some examples of the beating these cars take:

Track rubber marks after just couple of sessions

Clear bra damage

I also got a piece of truck tire flung at my car on the highway yesterday. Got a pretty big scuff mark on the clear bra (1" by 7"). It mostly disappeared after R3 and wax, but still visible. If not for clear bra, it would have been pretty substantial scratch.

ive heard several mention this.

is this why in some videos i see where the gt3 is pulling away the noise seems to go from nothing and then all of a sudden cut in like in these vids?

seems like it may be at about 3-4000 rpm

If you have Expel, have them check it out to correct. Let's be honest, this would have created a visible scratch but would have been repairable by a good body man. If Expel can't fix this, your choice is to live with it or replace/remove the Expel. I will be curious as to what Expel can do with this.

^^^ Kinda my point. Remove the Expel and youll almost certainly take the paint off with it. Without the Expel you can touch up at will. Its a flat colour so easy to touch up. Quite honestly after 3500 miles of driving on roads in Europe and NZ I have a good dozen small stone chips on the front bumper but an hour one afternoon with reading glasses a touch up stick, a small brush and good light and Id argue you couldnt see them from 2 foot. At least two of them would have damaged the paint under a clear skin. The worse chips were after a Sunday morning FAST drive sorte with a group of tarmac race guys in their GT3s, turbos, 991S etc - following in close convoy accelerates the gravel rash factor but interestingly it was the two chips on the matt grey mesh finish that i noticed the most (use the same titanium touch up stick as for the wheels). Im sure others will experience same in time once some aggressive group sortes are experienced....GT3 easily keeps right on the tail of anything it follows!

Why would Expel fix this? It isn't a warranty item. Only way to fix it is to replace the film. You need to live with it otherwise.

Macca, not sure why you think it will take the paint off. My detailer has taken film off many cars without taking the paint off. That said it is a personal choice. I would rather have it than not.
