Nick - My dealer does not do the work either but they have an Independent that comes and does it on-site in their shop. There are a lot of very good installers out there.. I just like to work it thru the Dealer because you just have more leverage. Plus, on a white car if it does start to yellow a couple years down the road your Dealer can help you get the replacement since they commissioned the work for you. Nothing wrong than using your Dealer to meet your needs.

Mike in CA: The dealer is frustrated too. They are forced to send mechanics for training and to pay for it and then are not allowed to do an R & R that they are perfectly qualified to do. I understand PAG's concern but a lot of us would be getting our cars back sooner if they would allow the dealers that are qualified to do the work.

I would just take delivery first. It does not affect all cars. I just noted it when at full lock and braking, a clicking/grinding sound. I just avoided full lock. My service rep will have the rotors ordered, so hopefully it won't hold my car up more that a day.

Remind me what the deal was with the rotors. Something about too close of a tolerance between the backing plate and the disc? Totally forgot about this issue and I never noticed any unusual noises. Were you actually aware of a problem with yours and under what circumstances did it occur? Was there evidence of damage to your rotors?
Yes, I think it was the back plate. The rotors look fine and apparently there was no safety issue. It made the sound at full lock with braking, both left and right. It didn't sound good at all. As soon as I heard it I would turn the steering wheel away from full lock and it would go away immediately. Glad to get that taken care of as well.

Good advice, thanks.

I spoke to Ian today. My original delivery date was 5/16. I have a VIN, and my car is a 2014 which sits at the factory awaiting the engine swap.
I was told that the tentative date for swap is 8/29.....
More specific info and locked dates due next week....Might be a little earlier, might be a little later....

Got my updated dates from Ian - same as everyone from the early delivery batch. Engine delivered June 14th and 3-4 weeks for replacement and re-delivery. No loaner better than $40K Cayman available :-(

I got a bit of good news today for Park Place Porsche, that they will be doing the engine swap on my GT3, They have done it for my GT3 Cup on numerous occasions, have the motorsports technicians on staff, and work with PMNA. My situation may be a little different as they already dropped my engine and sent it to Germany in February, so shipping my car is more complicated.
Regardless of how frustrated I am at PCNA, Park Place has been my advocate the entire time trying to get me answers and ensuring PAG and PCNA understood the level of frustration their customers were experiencing. Great dealership.
