What will it take from Porsche to make current GT3 owners feel "right" in the end?

Am in FL on vacation. When back in PA 3/22 expect to pick up loaner (asking for 911). IF get extended engine warranty (on what will be new engine, but arguably unproven) + $$ compensation package (for loss of use +/- risk of accelerated depreciation) will likely keep car ...
Will see what PAG/PCNA does for us .

With the diminished value due to the replacement engine, I hope they give the owners an extra year or two of bumper to bumper warranty. That would help restore the lost value.

Track Day

I received the email from Porsche yesterday (copy posted previously above). Today I stopped by the dealership. They have the same information owners received at the same time. We had an open discussion of the obvious issues including resale value, loss of use, numbers match, factory engine installation compared to dealer installed etc. I mentioned historic examples similar to this where the car always suffered as being known as the "2014 GT3 with the engine replacement." They nodded in agreement. Candidly, they know as much as we know. They do expect some consideration for us. I told them that for a moment I thought WTF I am going down toe the Ferrari dealer and get a car. A fleeting thought! They asked what I thought of the customer service thus far. I said that I was not overwhelmed as I felt that had done a bad job of managing our expectations. Two weeks ago we received an email saying we would receive a phone call the end of last week and there was no phone call. That is not the way to win friends and influence people. If you make a promise, keep the promise. So we will see how long this takes and what consideration Porsche provides. I am hanging in the balance. I am thinking I want the dealer to roll me into a 2015 or GT3RS.

Honestly, if you're unhappy with your treatment and want a '15, you have every right to cancel your order, get any deposit back and find another allocation for a '15 at MSRP.
Don't limit yourself to local dealers, when you spread your search out, competition is in your favor.

Porsche to replace GT3 engines due to fire risk
By Peter Valdes-Dapena @peterdrives March 18, 2014: 5:58 PM ET
Porsche will replace the engines in 785 high-performance sports cars because of a risk that the current engines could catch fire. The move was made in response to two engine fires in Porsche 911 GT3s.
The GT3 is a track-oriented two-seat version of the 911 sports car. Prices for the car start at $130,000. It can go from zero to 60 miles per hour in just 3.3 seconds, with a top speed of 195 miles per hour.
The decision to replace the engines was made after Porsche engineers investigated two engine fires that occurred in Europe. Neither fire caused an accident or any injuries. Porsche had already warned owners last month to stop driving the cars and to have them picked up and taken to a Porsche dealer.
Engineers discovered that the fires were caused by a loose rod inside the engine. The loose rod caused damage that then allowed lubricating oil to leak out and ignite.

The 785 cars that will have their engines changed include 408 in the United States. The move doesn't involve any other Porsche models beyond the 911 GT3. Porsche is part of the Volkswagen Group
