Burning Brakes
My information is that the engine being considered is the naturally aspirated 3.8L X51 option from the Carrera S that makes 430 hp at 7,500 rpm (with 7,800 rpm redline) in that car. Placed inside the more constrained location in the 981, it may make a few less hp, due to a more restrictive intake. The timing of this car is likely to be close to the facelift 991.2 Carrera. Both Carrera and Carrera S will be turbo Flat-6 then and the S will easily outpace this car in a straight line with a big torque infusion (and the usual incremental power bump). Here's an old article about AP speaking about a potential GT Cayman: http://www.caradvice.com.au/222832/p...consideration/

Not only was there no RS introduction, but I was surprised there was not one 991GT3 at the entire event. I counted three 918s, though...

What is really like to know though is the hill climb times for 918, P1 and La Ferrari. I saw they all went up the hill. Anybody know those?

It didn't get a lot of press, but the Cayenne Experience was indeed quite an experience for some show-goers as the Porsche driver spun them through two fences at high speed on Friday. Very lucky there were no injuries.
I wasn't paying much attention to the times. I don't think they are indicative of much.

You missed the Porsche showroom and Cayenne Experience? It was one of the biggest displays there, just past Land Rover as you head up to Molecomb. There was also a smaller display in the Moving Motor Show tent. Amazing not one 2014-15 GT3 there. First new car in a long time they aren't so proud of?

Porsche usually showcase there latest performance cars at good wood as do the other manufactures. Last year the 991 GT3 had huge exposure. This year it's 918 and 919. No surprises there really....

...except that they had a Turbo S coupe alongside a Martini-livery 918 in the supercar paddock, and a Turbo S Cab on display at the Moving Motor Show.
The 991GT3 was definitely conspicuous in its absence at the event.

My take on this is that Porsche are clearing a space for the September release in Paris of the 991 GT3RS.

My take on this is the car has been one of the most embarrassing situations for the company for over 25 years. And to make matters worse we are living in a "rennlist" world where info is much more free flowing and ambivalent of company strongholds.
