Consolidated 991RS thread

There is no way there won't be a MY2016 991 GT3 RS. They have the capacity to do GT3's and GT2's simultaneously. They are in the business of making money. If it's otherwise, then, well, PAG you disappoint the businessman & investor in me.
As I see it, MY2015, if it is even available for this MY, might be a short run given how late on the year we already are (unless they are further ahead than it would appear).
Only way I see no MY2016 GT3 RS is if the 991.1 variant is a short run because the 991.2's are hitting fast.
Everyone, stop worrying. Get deposits down with dealerships you can trust, and be patient.

I heard from a decent Porsche source not a dealer 12-18 mths, and that the RS is not on radar currently for the company. I'm still asking for favors so I don't want to post it in case it's read but I would PM the info.

I respect your info, and your post, but how is it not on their radar considering all the spy shots?

911dev - I will not disagree with your statement about the Dealers. That has been concluded over the past 6 months.
I guess time will tell. The interesting thing is when do you think they will roll the GT3RS out to the public?
Also, in the past have they manufactured both the GT3 and the GT3RS at the same time or do they wait for the GT3 production to end?

As far as the debut of the 991 RS, I feel we will see a car by the fall latest with cars arriving by spring next year. Just my feeling...

Of course i don't want to feed any bad info out there, but my dealer knows my enthusiasm towards locking this down. This was the information emailed to him yesterday I hope it's sooner but at this point I think it's accurate. I would post but the info was contained in a private email not to me. I can only assume the gt3 fiasco has modified release plans? Seems it would make it a 2016?

I put an early deposit down on a Cayman GT4 hoping they will finally let that car reach its full potential. However after driving my friend's last week at the Parade I'm suspicious I'll end up preferring the GT3 RS. As great as the Cayman is, and his is ~2650 lbs with Ohlins and the power to weight of a 997 GT3, I suspect I'll still prefer the way the 911 drives, and I'm betting the GT3 RS will be epic. I might need to raid the piggy bank...
Either way I'm looking forward to a couple more good years before the inevitable close of the analog car era. But it's not over yet (I hope).

Pete, which GT3RS are you talking about? The 991 version?
As far as I know it will be PDK only and I know how you feel about that...
I'm just curious if you've changed your mind...?

I could see getting a 991 GT3 automatic to play with for a few years, but I'd think of it as a temporary car, and suspect I might prefer the GT4 instead.
The only way I could stretch to a GT3 RS is if it's a keeper, and for a keeper it needs to be manual. If it comes it'll likely be one of the last top range manuals they ever make, and also probably one of the last NA cars without hybrid. I'd be worth eating Ramen noodles for a few years for that.

991GT3RS with a manual would be killer! Expensive, but killer! It'll probably sell like hot bread, both in PDK-SS(Super Sport) and Manual. Manual for those that still prefer the undeniable experience...and Porsche would have basically zero competition from other car manufacturers with this level of performance.
But they didn't want to offer both in the 991GT3 because " it would've been too expensive and the GT is a small department ",to quote the famous AP. Now I do wonder if perhaps those savings went into replacing all engines... It's laughable really...
