I'm sure they will. A lot of 918 buyers aren't actually Porsche loyalists (on the basis that it's either their only Porsche, or is in addition to a Carrera GT -- which is also owned by a lot of wealthy hypercar / exotic car owners, but not necessarily primarily Porsche loyalists). As such, they'll dump them after the first 1000 - 1500 miles.

My issue is I need to spec this out as I desire. I have a seriously difficult time finding preowned cars that I'm willing to spend $X on because I'm one picky . (Where X is > 100k.)

Yes they will get more as allocations are released in stages just like all other cars as the factory establishes quarterly production capacity. Also plan on more "reward/bonus" allocations given out to dealers that hit specific sales objectives throughout year as these cars and GT4s will be used by PCNA as rewards for sales performance. 1200 could very well be the scheduled amount of RS now but that will most likely be increased later as production capacity allows it, maybe not by much but it will increase.

Considering the production of the GT3 from Dec to Feb, I'm sure there is a lot of room to add allocations to get up to 1,200 for the US even if production does end in December this year.

You guys need to have patience.....step back, walk away from RL, and take a breathe. We'll all get our RSs, just not all of us will get them in 2015 from the first allocation.

I'll enjoy a low option 991 GT3 and a PTS 997.2RS in the meanwhile while I wait patiently for my turn to spend more money.

I wonder if the MT will actually be the rumored Cup variant? If so there will probably be another 918 VIP priority.......

Yup, in fact, ironically enough, I don't want one this early. I have a strong preference for late late builds. (For reasons that were made real when the 2014 991 GT3 had issues and a stop sale.)

Just gimme a brand new, spec'd by me, 991.1 GT3 RS, I don't care if I have to wait a year+ for it.

That's generally how I approach buying new model cars. No need to be the first on the block.

I'm torn...getting one earlier with lower mile (better) trade in on my GT3 or waiting for a later build and getting less for trade. In the end, it doesn't matter what I want as I have no control when or if I get an allocation...

My only issue with waiting is that THIS will probably be THE time when low production is indeed low production. With the U.S. economy doing better means more people who will be impractical and pay over MSRP to get one. Couple that with the lost year of RS production and sales may indeed cut the RS to a 1-year build. I agree that this doesn't seem feasible since Porsche would want to maximize profits from this model. Yet, as many have stated, the 1RS isn't leaps and bounds over the 1.3 so did Porsche really spend a ton on R&D? I'm just trying to be the devil's advocate (or the pessimist), but I really do want this car. I've had a spending plan in place for the last 3 years so I could get an RS. And now I find myself unfortunately not being blessed with a medium to large dealer since I live in the land of Mustangs, Camaros, Challengers, Chargers, and Corvettes. 911s seem to be mystical creatures here!

Oh, don't get me wrong, I'm not artificially waiting.

I just don't have a confirmed allocation yet.

historically RS is NEVER leap and bound over GT3.
if you want good performance for dollar, get GT3
if you like the "RS" letters buy RS. the 40k, buys you the decal.
tnaht really is it.
those who can't over that, really aren't RS buyers.
they can charge 100k more than GT3, if it has RS decal on it, it will sell.

label is what matters...
our factory produces the same fkg item for armani black label and kmart. same factory, same worker....
but if you want the black label it's $20x more money and guess what, GA sells everyone of them. no problem.

old panerai is a timex. one is 50, the other is $5000. get over it. this performance thing is getting boring.

40+ cars in ~15 years. One bad experience (similar to this type of stuff we're talking about), and I take my loyalty elsewhere. Treat me with respect, and I'll treat you with unwavering loyalty.
sometimes loyalty gets you no where. see my signature.40+ cars in 9 years. and maybe 50 more referrarals
