Yup. A Casio works better than s Breguet. But a bunch of metal gears run by a spring is a marvel to me and how it keeps, cough cough, time.

The GT4 is gonna be a great car. I love the concept of it. Its a little too track focused for me (No amenities like Bose, memory seats, etc)

I also have an M4 that is modified to probably around 540hp. It's a nice daily driver too.

I do think that I will keep the Z for a while. To me. it will be at least 12 months before there is another car (Ferrari 488 with 661 hp and ceramics brakes standard) out there under $1M that will offer as high or higher overall performance on the streets. In that, I mean 0 to 60, quarter mile, braking distance, lateral grip, slalom speed, hp/weight ratio, etc. Therefore anything I replace it with will be a downgrade at least in terms of those factors. I only go to the track a few times a year at most, and I never run more than 4 or 5 laps at a time, so that's not a priority for me at all. Sometimes, I don't even bring my own cars to the track, so I couldn't care less about the "heat soak" issue. I do think that at the latest, by next model year, GM would come up with a solution, namely a "track package" with different cooling options. Or they can just raise the price of the car by a few thousand if they even have to and include that all standard.

Its still a pretty good time to be a motorhead.
Very well said. I have owned may Vettes, as well as Porsches and Ferraris in the past and Vettes were always the great bang for the buck cars with not as good build quality or attention to detail as the more expensive imports but it is a fair trade off. Interesting enough, 0-60 and quarter mile times in the manual 7 speed tranny are actually slower than our good old GT3s even though the Vette has 175 extra hp!!!! That's what great traction and a PDK-s will do for you .

I will definitely do whatever I have to do next time I am on the track and have recorded the sessions.

Google "Richard Mille" watches. Rafael Nadal wears his while playing tennis. Not even gold or has any visible precious stones.

Why do you say that? The official 0 to 60 time for a MT7 Z06 is 3.2 and quarter mile is 11.1 at around 127, and several magazines have verified it. There are numerous time sheets posted online at dragstrips that has stock MT7 Z06's doing 1/4 mile at 10.9 and 127. I posted such a pic myself on Instagram. I saw an automatic last night doing one at 10.8 at 131 or faster.

0-60 will be faster for the GT3/RS, due to better traction and superiority of PDK-S over any corvette transmission.

1/4 mile faster in an automatic Z06, as it can then finally bring its power to bear.

C & D clocked an even 3.0 sec 0-60 time for the 991 GT3.

The base C7 and ZR1 were far from 3 seconds flat for 0-60 times, when tested by the same people, though I don't see an instrumented test for the Z06.

Just went to car and Driver's website. This is straight copy and paste for the GT3:

PERFORMANCE (C/D EST):
Zero to 60 mph: 3.3 sec
Zero to 100 mph: 7.9 sec
Standing ¼-mile: 11.5 sec
Top speed: 195 mph

And this is copy and paste for the Z06:

C/D TEST RESULTS:
Zero to 60 mph: 3.0 sec
Zero to 100 mph: 6.8 sec
Zero to 160 mph: 22.9 sec
Rolling start, 5-60 mph: 3.2 sec
Top gear, 30-50 mph: 1.7 sec
Top gear, 50-70 mph: 2.2 sec
Standing ¼-mile: 11.1 sec @ 127 mph

Thank you for correcting my post, which was from the airport on a smartphone. The search function doesn't work as well in safari on a phone , as the Z06 instrumented test isn't easy to find on their website without a full internet browser.

However, your search of the GT3 was similarly incomplete, as you posted the results of the C&D instrumented test of the Z06, but did not post the instrumented test of the GT3, for which you only posted the "estimated" times from the GT3 first drive by C&D.

When C & D did an instrumented test of the 991 GT3 (on their website), they demonstrated a 3.0 sec 0-60 time with GT3 that equaled the 0-60 instrumented test time of the Z06, a car with double the torque and >150hp over the 991 GT3.

I love my RM--watches are like cars...you end up buying bigger and better.

Maybe GM needs to adjust the timing of the fan to come on more often. Maybe that's the solution or at least a part of it.

Finished the day and drove home in traffic last 30 minutes. Still no fan on when I got home. My 911's and Ferrari's would be on after going to Starbucks. LOL!

Sport Cup tires are now all broken in. They look like they have seen some action!
terrence

happy to hear about your track experience with your z06 - what were the ambient conditions?

taking mine to laguna seca for its first track day this coming weekend.

been driving it as a daily driver past couple weeks to get it over the 1500 mile no tracking limit

probably won't run it 10/10ths this first time out but have been worried about the ecu power reduction issues discussed

This is a pretty good write-up of a C7 Z06 on the track from an owner who apparently has tracked a 997 GT3 and ran with the current iteration of the GT3 on the same track.

Cross post from the Corvette Forum (with a link to the Youtube video of the car on the track): http://www.corvetteforum.com/forums/...post1589023078

Take it for what it's worth, obviously.

The Corvette data recorder is so much better than what's in my GT3.

Porsche really has to a better job with things like this.
