Ouch, if true, sorry to hear for those owners.

Especially for those C7 (non Z06) owners who already have the A8 in their cars. On the road. Being used. Day in, and day out.

The 8-speed auto Z06's are being held at Bowling Green for an undetermined reason (could just be a minor QC check or something more serious), but this is the very first time I've heard of this.

Where did you get this information?

I can't reveal source but it is accurate. Not published. There is a part in the transmission found to be making noise but is not a mechanical concern - just making noise. Part was defective and being replaced but they will still replace the transmission.

Good. Less out there for now. I bought a 7 MT and wouldn't have even bought the car if it only came in Auto.

I'm glad someone found the real culprit...

Looks like your accurate information may be inaccurate.

Agreed. My 2009 gtr had paint automatically peeled out by sitting under the sun for a while. I was telling myself that they put all the money into the engine and transmission.

Just tracked it yesterday at Streets of Willow. Did 4 sessions of about 10 laps or more each. Hard on the brakes and most of the track is 2nd and 3rd gear, with me using 2nd gear much more often, so it was doing 6K rpm throughout most of each lap. No heat soak. No error codes. No limp mode. Absolutely no brake fade. Funny thing is the fan didn't even come on until the end of the 4th session., and that was actually the first time since ownership that I heard the fan on. Maybe GM needs to adjust the timing of the fan to come on more often. Maybe that's the solution or at least a part of it.

Finished the day and drove home in traffic last 30 minutes. Still no fan on when I got home. My 911's and Ferrari's would be on after going to Starbucks. LOL!

Sport Cup tires are now all broken in. They look like they have seen some action!

Did you record any lap times and temps (ambient/oil/coolant)?
Thx,
TT

No. I was going to video is using the onboard PDR, but realized that the car didn't come with an SD card. Have to go buy one asap.

Fun fact: on my way to the track, I mistakenly drove the first 40 miles on the freeway at around 70 to 90 in 4th. I never noticed it because the engine was so smooth. 40 miles later, I switched to 7th. While in 4th cruising at those speeds for about 35 minutes, the oil and engine temp was between 200 and 220. After switching to 4th, they went to below 190.

Regarding the transmission issue on the Corvette:

The 8L90 transmission that was used in the Corvette as well as the 6.2L V8s in the GM Trucks and large SUVs (Yukon Denali, Sierra Denali, Escalade) had an initial defect with regards to the clearances of the clutch packs. All of those transmissions had clunking noise issues when the transmission is cold. The noise subsides after prolonged driving. GM has purged all of the faulty transmissions. Those units being built from February onwards all have updated clutch packs with tighter clearances. The problem has been corrected.

I don't know if I will be able to do that since I don't have any Windows computer.
