Great car performance-wise, and if folks think the GT3 is a performance bargain, then the Z06 might as well constitute a "giveaway".

But the thing looks like the result of a ménage à trois between a GT-R, an F12, and a Camaro, and everyone forgot to use protection.
You say it looks nothing like a Ferrari then use a Ferrari (F12) in describing which cars it's a compilation of. I do agree they look worse in person. I want to like it and the pictures hint at promise but in the flesh both the stingray and the Z06 are too choppy to be completely pleasing. It certainly more exotic than ever but that doesn't mean attractive.

Suspect much of the new design was wind tunnel driven. Marginal preference for the smoother lines of C6 Z07 but the new one in white looks good. I find a design's attractiveness has a high correlation to how successful it is on track so I'm reserving judgement for now. Either way, major kudos to GM for putting its money where its mouth is on the tracking issue.

Well Angela Jolie looks nothing like Jon Voight (her father), right?

If one can stomach the torque convertor box, it's probably going to be nearly as quick as a well set up and driven GT3, driver for driver ... the slower the driver, the further ahead the Vette ...

When the match was played 505hp Z06 vs 400hp GT3, the only way a well driven Z06 could stay ahead was prodigious point and squirt ... the longer the straights, the better chances for the Vette to spread a gap and keep it, but braking, apex speeds and outright handling made it possible for the GT3 to stay in touch. Maybe with 650hp/650tq and the GT3 at 475hp, even with this rather marvelous PDK, I don't think the extra dead weight in the Vette will hold it back (and if Stingray handling is any clue, once you add Z07 options) the Z06 will be a quicker lapper. As for which will be more enjoyable, which will be better value, lower operating costs or more reliable, I think that's going to be a narrower margin than just the purchase price.

Huh? Are you implying a new A8 C7 Z06 is going to be slower than a 991 GT3 all other things equal on basically any track? I just don't see how that's possible unless the Z06 overheats or blows up.

The GT3 only beat the Z/28 by 1/2 sec at Barber. I'm afraid the GT3 has no chance against the Z06 in any department.

Watch the C7R against the RSR Porsche in races. I watched a race yesterday, and the Vette was passing the Porsche on the outside of turns. There's nothing wrong with the Vette design.

You'd probably have to read the second paragraph of that post.

Okay, you were contradicting yourself, so I was confused. Whatever. The proof is in the pudding and given similar drivers, the Z06 will stomp a mudhole in the GT3 on the track (and most other cars for that matter). Hoping the upcoming RS has some goodies to put it in the ballpark.

Not sure it will be that dramatic. The bottom line is the GT3 is more than fast enough for everybody, but a few. The Z06 will be more than the majority can handle.

There's no contradiction in observing that there's more than one aspect to the comparison.

Any chance the slow release of the RS is a result of this? Some last minute tweaks to step up performance?

That's a good thought. I hope it's true.

2" more head room, 2" more leg room and I could have saved $100K with lower lap times and running cost, have a manual and 5 lug wheels.

Chevy sucks.

Exactly. When I sat in a C7 I didn't see much room for a helmet. Maybe, but i didn't have one with me to try. I'm only 6'1"
