But the Manual trans isn't really what we think of as a true manual. It has a lot of electronic doo dads on it, rev matching on downshift, hill hold feature which just like in the 7MT on my 991 Carrera makes in hard to feel the engagement of the clutch. The rev matching is becoming more and more common and feels weird as no heel and toe is necessary and the blip of the throttle is really unnatural. It looks like even the manual transmissions are taking away more involvement. After a year and a half with my 7MT a PDK that replicates a sequential gearbox actually sounds a lot better. I feel if they even were to introduce a manual gearbox in the GT3, most would be unhappy as it's no longer like the old days. An RS America or a 996 GT3 sounds like a great third car but the new tech always has allure. Glad I wasn't the only one looking at the real life Matchbox car 2015 Corvette Z06!
no way this will happen^^

you do know that you can turn off rev matching, right?
Actually, the default setting is "off".
In fact, you can turn everything except ABS off....but then again you can just pull the ABS fuse if you relly need to test yourself!

Cool vid:

Listen to the upshift a little after 20 seconds. If that's the automatic transmission, it's going to be pretty wild.

Despite its abundant use of lightweight materials throughout its structure and its aero-honed body, the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 will be the heaviest Corvette in history—and not by a little. Thanks to “a friend” of Corvetteblogger.com (who we’re not sure is a true “friend” of GM), the 2015 Corvette ordering guide is now public domain, including previously unknown product information about the Z06.

From that document we’ve learned that the Corvette Z06 coupe will weigh 3524 pounds, 226 pounds more than the 2015 Corvette Stingray coupe, while the Z06 convertible will tip the scales at 3582 pounds, some 220 more than the Stingray ragtop. Incidentally, this is 171 pounds heavier, according to Chevrolet, than the 2013 Corvette ZR1 and 325 more than the 2013 Corvette Z06. Such is the price of more sophisticated suspension hardware, structural enhancements, plus a fat Eaton supercharger and all of its attendant plumbing on the 6.2-liter LT4 V-8.

Not that the extra weight should bog down the car too much: the Z06 will produce a rip-snortin’ 650 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque, yielding an output-to-weight ratio very close to that of the ZR1, which pumped out 638 horses and 604 lb-ft. So you don’t have to do the math, that’s 5.42 lb/hp for the 2015 Z06 versus 5.26 for the ZR1, and 5.42 lb/lb-ft of torque for the new Z06 coupe versus 5.55 lb/lb-ft for the ZR1.

A little piggy aren't we.

Despite the weight, I'm sure the car will be fast as hell. I saw a lot of new Corvettes up close in Monterey last week and, I'm sorry, but I just don't find the car that attractive. It looks better in some colors than others, and the overall shape is nice, but with all the angles and scoops and detail "touches" scattered here and there it just comes off as...well...garish, IMO. Fast? No doubt. Desirable? Not to me.....

that doesn't seem SOO heavy when you consider a GT3 is nearly 3200 lbs..?? and the Z06 is a v8 and bigger, and $50,000 less

Well if the $50k is in singles or fives, it will weigh quite a bit!

Calexio, the price is the always the last defense for Vettes. All else fails use the price and leave the room. I know because as I mentioned before, I came from camp corvette.

As racers say: "Lighter, stronger, cheaper. Pick two."

Totally agree.

Regarding looks. From the front it looks like a Ferrari F12, from the profile a GT-R, and the rear of a first-generation Camaro.

It's Frankenstein styling.

And the Z06 just takes it up a notch and magnifies all those disjointed bits and pieces.

But like all Z06 variants, it'll be a beast performance-wise.
