Aside from arranging for transportation logistics, would an automaker need a facility at a given port in order for cars to be unloaded there? Hasn't SD been the West Coast port that Porsche has used for a while?

Well at least it docked at PORT of PORT OF HUENEME in Long Beach. My friend in Palos Verdes was checking it out with a telescope. Finally saw some White, Red and Silver GT3's march off. --Looked like thy stopped one of red ones and drove it to the customs inspection trailer, then it re-boarded the ship.

Now it is docked at Port Hueneme but the latest destination per the shipping website is listed as US SAN so perhaps that means San Diego. All very confusing, to say the least. I suspect that once it offloads the cargo for PH then it offloads the San Diego cargo?

Don't know what's going on with the Port of Hueneme/San Diego thing. In addition to BMW NA there are two other auto import facilities at Hueneme. So the West Coast Porsches could get dumped there or it could be back to San Diego. The original Porsche tracking date for US arrival was 1/3 so maybe we we're just making assumptions that the ship was early. Hard to make sense of it all.....

HaHa.. Hmm.. It going back to SD correlates more with the Jan 17th Date I was given.. Hopefully we will see it leave port soon. I saw an older video of the port and it looks like they were driving a car off every 5 seconds.. So thats about ~1,200 cars/hr.. maybe 5 hrs to unload 6,000 cars.. Who knows, I'm sure they have it down faster then that, maybe multiple ramps.. port time an't cheap.

Interesting.. Looks like it's going to US-SAN next.. Hey, what about SD.. Ha Ha.. I'll be in Vegas for a few days. Might have to skip over to the unofficial car capital of the universe -- LA -- a little early..

Yeah, I don't know if US SAN is San Diego or San Francisco. It's next port of call may have nothing to do with dropping off cars. Maybe it's picking up cargo. All will soon be revealed....

Yeah, seems like it - that site shows the Lyra Leader in at 5 am and out 12 hours later...not sure if that is PST (I assume since it is a San Diego Maritime site)...so maybe not that many cars left after today's drop-off up north...all I know is that I am jonesing for this thing.
