Thanks. After years of chasing that passion, I've tapered off a bit on the audio gear spending. Once you get past a certain age you begin to realize that there is diminishing return in continuing to upgrade to equipment whose benefits your older ears can't quite detect.

Hold on... Someone on here who is so we hat reliable says that he heard from a somewhat reliable source that the RS may come with a manual tranny... And y'all are still discussing raw fish and audio systems?

Ok, so let me get this straight: the RS will come without RWS, without PDK, and with Turbo side Intakes... But will cost $50k more than the gt3.

I'm confused... And I like Otoro best

Whoa! This is the first I've heard of there possibly not being any Gen 2 GT3's. Between this and talk of the next Generation of 911 being hybrid...

Today I was told that at some point in its (short) life cycle the 991 RS will be offered with a manual transmission. It's from a somewhat reliable source who "overhead AP" saying it to be true. Apparently details on the new RS will be released in January or February. I'm on the top of the list with my local dealer and looking forward to something official coming out. Has anyone else heard this?
i haven't heard this. but interesting however.
what happens if pdk rs is faster than stick RS? how does porsche markets this? just curious.

curious rumour over on Pistonheads....namely that there will be no 991.2 version of the GT3....

plus on RS spec : "515Bhp no rear wheel steer and a faster PDK box. Plus the usual exhaust ect, turbo body with 993 GT2 style arches"

and some HRE prognostication (props to redback911 on PH):
new news. but i like it if they rivet up some 993gt2 fenders, make it rough make it RWB. no RWS. how will PAG explain that away compared to non RS?

100w stereo amp.
eurotrash like mooty said...

audio is same price as cars, but cheaper to run once it's set-up.
you just pay for electricity, tubes, cartridges..
women and fine dining are much more expensive, dangerous and short-term satisfaction.

I'm a total newbie with audio a too. Neighbor upstairs has this beautiful stereo he said he wanted to sell. He told me how much it sucks to lose $ on music equipment, said he was expecting to lose $50%.. I did some quick math and thought "how much can he want.. $4-5k?.. Maybe I'll buy it"... He offered to "give" it to me for $60k... I almost spit my food out at him... The dude spent $120k on his speakers and receiver!!!!!

How is that possible??? Gt3 looks positively dollar store value after that.

gt3 cost $300k here, that's why i chose stereo instead!

all the little things add up.
it's all the cabling, isolation devices, racks, cartridges, power line products. the stuff you don't see that are behind the scenes. they are important pieces of the chain that are overlooked by everybody else. can easily spend $50k on those things alone. once it's there though, there is very little on-going cost unless you sell/upgrade items and cop the depreciation.
best way to do it, is to buy the gear that you never want to upgrade from. expensive but cheaper in the long run. unfortunately like any hobby though, you need to gain experience first at your own expense...
it's all part of the fun though! just ask mooty and 996flt6..they keep looking for a way back in the zone.
slippery slope chasers!

Who cares? Or are we back to all needing GT-R's because they're faster?
