The reason it gives me hope is that the image above is the same basic structural design as the 918 seats, the 918 includes N. American sales and the 918 configurator shows that seat structure as the only offering.

The ROW configurators currently show the 997 style bucket seats which have a fundamentally different structure.

To me this implies that the 918 seat is being or has been DOT certified and could be cross certified into the 991 chassis.

Even if that's all accurate, one has to wonder, if a seat that befits a million dollar hyper-car would be used in the lowly gt3. From both a marketing perspective and a cost perspective.

Ryan: I like the detective work. I'll hang onto any glimmer of hope for the real seats.

I dont think that's it ... the illustration is different, *and* it would already have a P/N since its already delivered in RoW cars... just guessing.

Porsche put the Carrera GT seats in the 997 GT3 as a club sport package (na for the USA). I don't think the new seats will be exclusive to the 918.

Well, they for sure they did it with brakes (the new PCCB's) albeit at a cost. Which raises the question if using the seats from the 918 will give Porsche an excuse to price them at a hefty premium in the GT3.

Yes. Why? Because they can...

They also gave Macan the 918 like steering.

I'll bet we see this multi-function 'sport' wheel across the Porsche range soon.

All makes sense now why they did not waste the time and money to certify the 'GT2' sport bucket seat for the US 991/981. I'll bet we see the 918 sport seat optional across the 991/981 range for 2015 as well.

The 918 seat is beautiful (for the 918) but 2 fixed buckets (no folding) is not ideal in a 911.

^^Good point. The folding sport buckets in my 997.2 were much more convenient than the fixed Euro GT3 buckets I had in my 996.
