I was told that it would be coming in 2014 at some point, but with MY2015 cars....

Yeah, same…I’ve been told the 1st buckets here will appear in the RS – late 2014. No one is sure if they will fold or not.

If that's the case, there are people here delaying early allocations in hopes of scoring buckets in the 1st or 2nd quarter who are going to be disappointed. It's too bad PCNA can't (won't?) give a definitive answer on this.

I've heard the same about the seats first being introduced with the RS. I passed on my GT3 allocation strictly based on the seat availability and decided I might as well go for the RS instead. I'm just hoping the price isn't too high or I will end up without either.

Correct, I will be disappointed all right, but I place my odds at 50-50 at best for my March build having sport buckets. That said, I knew my December delivery had a zero percent chance.

Not only will PCNA not give any timing guidance, the official position is that there will not be sport buckets. That is according to my dealer rep. Of course, they are in the business of selling what they have now, not what they may have in the future. Delay your order at your own risk. The situation definitely sucks.

This thread hasn't had any activity in a while.

We've now seen the 918 appear on the configurator and it obviously has a new type of bucket seat, I'm assuming that it meets the DOT requirements and gives Porsche a potential seat for reuse in the North America 911 lineup.

Any any new information on the availability of Sport Bucket seats for North America?

Well, the Porsche PET part system was just updated to include a list of GT3 parts. Enclosed is a shot of the sport bucket and take note of the drawing used, but there is no part number yet.

Not sure what the PET is, but your find looks officialish and promising.

Has anyone in the US been notified by their dealer of being able to spec the sport buckets yet?

My guess is we will first see them in the RS at Geneva and availability for the GT3 soon after that.

I would say we've already seen them in the 918 at Frankfurt.

No reason they couldn't be made available sooner if suppliers can provide sufficient quantities. Unless crash test results are the limiting factor, then I'd have to question if the RS uses the wider turbo body is that directly applicable.

Wouldn't that PET screen capture just be the euro buckets? If so, that doesn't mean much for us in the states.

Why does this give any assurance about a N. American racing bucket arrival? Wouldn't this apply to all global parts?
