Spoke to my Porsche dealer today, I got moved from #3 to #2 and now have a 2Q build instead of a 2Q order. Sure hope these are available.

What are you seeing that is common sense? Enlighten me.

Given these new buckets will be options on the 981 and 991 eventually, I'm betting they will fold somehow. That traction loop is a smoking gun.
I think he was referring to the suggestion posted earlier in the thread that the entire seat could tilt forward, since it appears the seatback itself (given the fixed-looking seatback supports) might not.

You may be right and Porsche has figured out a way to make it work. I guess we'll find out eventually.....

Need to do something with mine, going to have to go aftermarket as not getting much sense out of Porsche.

Such a damn shame porsche have left the North America market to its own devices given row choices.

So, looking at sparco and momo seats to see what would work, even if its temporary until we know what's what with Porsche. Rollbar is also a challenge.

Massive crap that these seats aren't offered in the US but why don't you guys just buy used GT2-bucket-seats out of a 997 GT3/ GT2? The sliders fit right into the 991 and so does the seat itself...

The only thing I'm not sure about is the cable-connector under the seat (for the Airbag, Seatbelt-warning). But I'll Check this!

other threads have suggested that the 997 Sports Buckets are not electrically compatible with the 991 harnesses ...

I have a set of Sport Buckets and I'm definitely interested in a fix that makes them fully compatible with my coming 991 GT3.

Here's the relevant discussion, looks like Suncoast tried but when the seats were not plug compatible they quickly abandoned the project.

I'm an Electrical Engineer and if someone has the specs for each side of the interface I can likely work up a solution.

As a chemical engineer by training and about 6-7 weeks away from my GT3, hats off to you. I'll ship out a beverage of your choice upon completion of your assignment.

Find it hard to believe that Porsche can't get these seats available if all it takes is a different connector?

Haaa. I'm an EE, I'm sure between the few of us we could figure it out. In a previous life I did work on Military projects and worked with techs to make several test harnesses to simulate a BlackHawk Chopper APU, so the seat should be easy. It might be CAN bus or SAE 1939 (worked on those in the auto industry). Just google for connectors and a tech who can build these..

Might be more than just a connector change.

When I get my car (March / April) I'll have both a 987.2 Cayman R and 991 GT3 on hand including an extra set of 987.2 standard seats.

I'm sure that the group here on rennlist can figure it out.
