For the 997.2 GT cars the 3/RS delta was 15HP. I wouldn't expect a huge diiference this time either; maybe 20-25 tops?

I think there will be more change than there was with the 997. Just my opinion.

Could be, although that also would likely mean a bigger price difference, FWIW. The other consideration is that with the GT3 at a very conservative 475HP (closer to 500 reportedly) there's not a lot of wiggle room before the RS bumps up against the 520HP of the new Turbo. Would Porsche do that? I don't know....

Regarding GT3 allocations and VIP customers, I have it on good authority that VIP allocations for 918 customers will be over and above the allocations that the dealership would normally receive. In other words, while a VIP may get one of the first cars, they won't be cutting any "regular" buyers out of one.

Very true. As someone who hates everything about the turbo and loves the gt3 I hope they do. In my opinion the type of client who buys a turbo would not care if the gt3 had more power than the turbo. Porsche should be focused on building fast cars, not worrying about have the line up in what they think is the "right order". The gt cars are in a different category from the rest of the 911s including the turbos, so they should not be limited by the turbos.

NO official allocations as of today.
Your dealer can enter your order in the computer in preparation for his allocations!

That's just not true. Official allocations for 918 owners were march 5-15.

Do you have a build date? Did you spec the car and receive acknowledgement/confirmation from Porsche NA?

Last week the 991TT was introduced and US dealers received allocations. Yet the GT3 was introduced two months ago and US dealers have not received any allocations. Very strange.

I did not spec my car yet, but I had to let porsche vip know if I wanted one between March 5-15 so they could reserve them. I think it is fair to call that an allocation, regardless of whether I have a build date.

Clearly, 918 buyers are on a different schedule due to the VIP program. As I stated above, the 918 "allocations" are over and above the official GT3 allocations for other customers, and as MJones said, those official allocations have not yet been received by dealers.

I have a question about the car even though this is about allocations. I sat in the car at the NY auto show and noticed that you had actually give the paddle a pull to shift, instead of just a little tap? Is that because it was a pre-production car, or will it be that stiff, kind of like the stick in the GT3 RS is compared to other stick cars.

Not quite sure what you mean re: "a little tap". Just as with the current PDK, PDK-S upshifts with a pull on the right paddle and downshifts with a pull on the left. Supposedly the paddle throw is 50% shorter and a little "crisper". You can also upshift with a pull on the console gearshift or a push to downshift; this is reversed from normal PDK.

A little tap as in the effort to pull the paddle in my ferraris is 5x easier than the GT3. It is very stiff.

Compared to Ferrari owners, Porsche owners in general are very stiff....
