Interesting because my local Porsche dealership SA told me very convincingly that though my 10yr is up this August, not to worry and to enjoy the car that PAG will not let me down. My WAG is that there will be some semblance of an informal "Good Will " so long as the owner has proper service history with a Porsche dealership on services.
If you think about it, it would behove them to secure the values of all the 991.1 GT3.s . They made a lot of them , and how are they going to explain/prevent future plummeting values due to known issue ...it could/would impact first time GT3 owners not wanting to deal with a $90k service bill and perhaps even taint that what future issue 992's might have. There's already been 1 992 GT3 motor that has grenades already . There's a video on Instagram by ThePorscheWHisperer who I believe is a Gold Tech waiting for the replacement motor and showed the removed one.
I finally took mine out of Winter storage a few days ago and I've fallen in love with it all over again....to date, I haven't had a drive in it that didn't thrill , even the milk runs .

AP from Porsche did a interview with Chris Harris a few years back, and AP said the 991 GT3 will allway's hold its value, and porsche will stand behind there product, Time will tell, I think there is a up side for the 991..

PDK in my 991.1 GT3 failed at about 40k miles. Cost me almost $20k to replace. No goodwill was extended on that.

I've seen a few 992 GT3 engines fail, and personally had an encounter with a failure on Sunday at the track that almost got ugly. People love to put their "bulletproof" blinders on with the 4.0, but that simply isn't the case. Of course I'd love to see a 5 year extension on engine warranty but won't hold my breath. In the meantime I'm going to keep enjoying each RPM on my G6.

These are “Race Engines” they can and will fail at some point especially ones that are Tracked Frequently which means constant maintenance and if not maintained properly will fail you can guarantee it. Nothing is full proof! Key here is have a current New Warranty, CPO from Porsche or Porsche Platinum Warranty extension so you can sleep at night. To “hope” that Porsche is going to act in “Good Faith” on a 991.1 engine failure outside of the 10 yr warranty is a stretch ESPECIALLY if you were not the original owner and even that is a stretch. Hopefully something comes out in writing from PCNA but until it does don’t speculate.

So I have been shopping for ways to extend mechanical coverage (notice I did not say warranty) on a 991.1 GT3. I called a few dealers that were not helpful. Then I called Leith Porsche in Raleigh NC and talked to F&I manager (Tony Craft). He was extremely helpful and knowledgeable about this product offered by Porsche dealers, administered through a 3rd party. (see attached PDF). This is not an extension of any original or supplemental warranty.
Two levels (options): powertrain only and "Platinum". Power train only seemed way too limited for me. I don't see any per incident cost caps or agreement cost caps. In terms of engine replacement for FF issue, I would imagine this is determined by replace vs repair financial analysis done at the dealer. so it might not get replaced. But repair is good enough for me. Tony said this is comprehensive and should cover any mechanical failures with engine and PDK for the things we worry about. Not covering abuse, accidents, lack of oil, etc, the stuff you expect to be excluded basically. Not covering any maintenance or wear items (consumables). Platinum also covers way more than just engine/PDK. Tony said they replaced speakers in a car the other day under this plan. He says their shop loves these plans as do customers who buy them. All dealers in US (don't know about Canada) recognize and work with these plans. Read section 6 "Exclusions" very carefully. Tons of exclusions including failure occurring on a "track".
Just passing on recent learnings here. I have not personally purchased this yet and obviously not made a claim under this plan. ** YMMV ** Do your own research.
So if interested, call your favorite dealer F&I guy with your VIN for a quote. I was quoted $8,150 for 48 mo/48,000 miles for platinum on a 2015 GT3 ($100 deductible) before any haggling.
(see attached contract)
