Thanks for your feedback everyone. We are now going on 3 weeks since the car was dropped off at the dealership. 3 calls to 1-800-Porsche, 1 email to a high level executive which spawned a phone call to me a few days ago but since then radio silence...... and still no approval and more wasted time.

"Porsche is trying to take the less expensive route of having my engine rebuilt rather than replace the motor which is what both the dealership and I want. It's literally a difference of $5,000, very disappointing"
Had similar experience. This company is all about money. In my case the dealer is not helpful either.

Keep communicating with them, and this is not some 5 year car it’s basically new and I would only take a replacement. You will also take a hit on resale as some have said because people will choose a non-replacement over a storied car wrong or right. This is a brand issue which Porsche hates negative press from their top buyers, and it’s the right thing for them to do. The last thing they need are these 9k rpm cars having a kaboom reputation. Replacement and some depreciation cash or post expired warranty coverage is a good deal. Good luck.

[QUOTE=closer98;16960222]Have you ever seen an automobile manufacturer give depreciation money for something like this?[/QUOTE\
Yes, BMW did for me on a 745i when I was big into their brand and several years back, and I had a delayed M5 and they cut me a check for 3500.00 and M school for good will.

“This company is all about money”. Which company isn’t? There is nothing different about Porsche than VW or BMW or Ford or Amazon or Apple. They are a business and they need to be profitable. Being profitable has a definition that depends on customer satisfaction which plays a role, and depending on the brand some tries harder to make customers happy than others. But make no mistake, they dont care about you they only care about making you happy just enough so that their profit isnt impacted.

Three Wheelin'
This is odd. As to Porsche policy when car is under warranty no engine is allowed to be repaired by local dealers. It's an exchange-based program. Has that changed?

Agree on lemon the car, and once you say that attitude changes.
