This will be fun, expect lots of advice around driving and not thinking about depreciation...

its more about me upgrading. So sell this one and get a newer one. Or gt2rs. I still have my 997 turbo and 81 wide body.

Feels to me like this sort of event is a good motivator to make a change - upgrade is always the best change, if funds allow.
Dealers tend to ask no questions at trade-in, perhaps they assume the worst already and build it into the low-ball offer they normally give. I’m assuming that’s why so many of us have older 911’s in our garage that we have just held on to. I know that’s my excuse!

Default Valve guides

Valve guides were loose as we started doing the valve job on the second head. They are in now. Days from being back together.

looking like it will be around 8k.

Ended up having to replace the ECU!! Sometime during the issue, removal or install it was fried. Car has been up and running now for 3 weeks. Running strong!!! So final bill $13,500 all IN.

So this is what 500HP feels like!

Bummer to hear about the ECU but glad to hear you're back on the road and running! I bet you feel good knowing you have grand new springs, valves, and guides. Nice and fresh.

But I do always buy an extended service contract on my Porsche's. I have one on my GT3 from Easy Care. I had the V10 in my old e60 M5 blow and Easy care paid for a complete rebuild, less my $500 deductible.
