I recall the guidance from the dealer that the extension can be added on anytime before the CPO warranty expires. Cost was quoted to be roughly the same cost as getting CPO'd, so I believe approx 4k CAD but that probably varies by vehicle.....

My comment was just theoretical, not addressing this specific incident. I just get a kick out of so many P cars owners declaring "they are meant to be driven hard" and "they have fewer problems when driven hard then when not", like P cars are immune to the laws of physics and the limits of metallurgy. Don't get me wrong, I love the GT P cars as evidenced by my substantial investment in one but they are still just cars....the harder you drive them, the more things will break. As A.J. Foyt once said, "every engine has a horsepower per hour limit".
As i recall, that theory was bandied about when the the IMS failure of the 996 and 997.1 Carreras became the issue dujuor. It seemed with that failure, cars driven sparingly were most often affected. I don’t think anyone would say tracking your Porsche regularly will expand its longevity. That said, keeping it a garage queen and taking it out every so often for a leisurely stroll might not be optimal either. Im sure somewhere there’s a happy medium

Mine went 40K miles most on track and most track was Sebring. Sold it and the only repair I’ve had was a cooling pipe but I noticed quick enough to not cook the engine.
Beyond that it was used to drive to and from the track and a couple cross country drives.

Not to jack this thread but this is also the first I've heard of CPO warranty from Porsche Canada going beyond 2 years past the original warranty (6 years from new). I've asked my dealer in Toronto and was told CPO is 2 additional years and then that is it.

What is everyone thoughts on resale value now? I know it was already low because of my miles and the cars history of track time.

I have an email from my sales manager during my purchase discussions but haven't been able to find anything under Porsche corp. letterhead. I understand this to be a Porsche warranty (same terms as CPO). Here is the cut and paste:

Double edit - looks like that is for the Chinese market, weird that it's the first thing that popped up on google and the website is in English. I called my local dealer and they said Porsche is working on a program like this but it hasn't been released in the US yet. Strange given what was posted above...
