I recall the guidance from the dealer that the extension can be added on anytime before the CPO warranty expires. Cost was quoted to be roughly the same cost as getting CPO'd, so I believe approx 4k CAD but that probably varies by vehicle.....

I tried buying extra warranty from Porsche after 4 years and 40K miles but sells only for GT3, not RS I was told about a year ago.

Not to jack this thread but this is also the first I've heard of CPO warranty from Porsche Canada going beyond 2 years past the original warranty (6 years from new). I've asked my dealer in Toronto and was told CPO is 2 additional years and then that is it.

Did you receive any documentation on it and can you confirm this is a Porsche warranty not third party aftermarket?

Don't get me wrong, I love the GT P cars as evidenced by my substantial investment in one but they are still just cars....the harder you drive them, the more things will break. As A.J. Foyt once said, "every engine has a horsepower per hour limit".

As i recall, that theory was bandied about when the the IMS failure of the 996 and 997.1 Carreras became the issue dujuor. It seemed with that failure, cars driven sparingly were most often affected. I don’t think anyone would say tracking your Porsche regularly will expand its longevity. That said, keeping it a garage queen and taking it out every so often for a leisurely stroll might not be optimal either. Im sure somewhere there’s a happy medium

Mine went 40K miles most on track and most track was Sebring. Sold it and the only repair I’ve had was a cooling pipe but I noticed quick enough to not cook the engine.

Beyond that it was used to drive to and from the track and a couple cross country drives.

I have an email from my sales manager during my purchase discussions but haven't been able to find anything under Porsche corp. letterhead. I understand this to be a Porsche warranty (same terms as CPO). Here is the cut and paste:

"I also confirmed warranty extension options for you. As I mentioned, it will come with two years of comprehensive warranty [CPO] starting from the day you take delivery. You have the option to extend that a further 2 years for $3,995 which you can do in the last year of the current warranty. You can then extend it a further 2 years, again in the last year of that extension, again for $3,995 providing the vehicle is not 10 model years old at that time."

..... engines developed between 2008 and 2013 were the subject of the investigation, including those of the Panamera and 911 models.

Default Thoughts?

What is everyone thoughts on resale value now? I know it was already low because of my miles and the cars history of track time.

but thoughts now on worth? Assuming the car is back to normal after rebuild?

Porsche and engine controversy have gone hand and hand over the last few years. This article is further support the post originator could use to support their cause of getting their engine fixed. The relevance is nearly palpable...to some is guess.

Wow that is huge for CPO cars if available on all models.

Edit - found this info on the Porsche website, never heard of this before so must be new - https://www.porsche.com/china/en/acc...antyextension/

Double edit - looks like that is for the Chinese market, weird that it's the first thing that popped up on google and the website is in English. I called my local dealer and they said Porsche is working on a program like this but it hasn't been released in the US yet. Strange given what was posted above...
