And Porsche is throwing it into every new model apparently. 991.2 GT3, 991.2 GT3RS, 992 GT3, 992 GT3RS, new GT4RS, and now the ST. That's SIX cars with the same engine. And honestly, now that I don't have a dog in the fight, I think the 991.2 GT3RS is the best of all of 'em.
I wouldn't say that it's closer to a GTS. The single mass lightweight flywheel isn't a small thing. It's 70lb lighter than a standard 992 Touring and the Mg wheels drop a bunch of inertia. The car is sure to feel more responsive. Lightweight glass and reduced insulation will make it will likely sound more aggressive. It's effectively a 992 R.

The only thing that makes no sense is the RWS delete. The weight of that system is minimal. It's almost all upside. It's the first GT product in forever to not have RWS. That makes no sense to me, especially when you have a hot motor and light weight.

But let's be honest - starting price $290k and quickly >$500k in the secondary market. Most of these things will be garage queens.

$20K might be pocket lint to Manifold.

It must really suck to be so ultra-focused on money. Gets in the way of the important things in life.

Its principle to me much more than money. I have no problem paying top dollar for anything (and I do). I have a huge problem in being taken advantage of or filling the pockets of people who dont deserve it.

The real issue is that there aren't many of these cars for sale and they vary in their builds, so there's no clear market price for a particular car. Factors that come into play in deciding what to pay for a car are how close the car is to you, who you're buying it from, and how much YOU like the build. In the case of my car, there are very few Miami Blue for sale, I wanted non-WP, I wanted FAL, I wanted a car with not too many or too few miles on it, I wanted CPO, I wanted to buy from my dealer (10 minutes from my home), and I wanted a fair price. I was able to get all of those without even having to spend time shopping for an RS, so this was a must buy.

Yeah, 992 R. But why. The car makes no sense to me.

If you hadn't paid what you did, someone else would have. And so, that's the market, not what someone imagines prices ought to be.

Idea that if you hadn't stepped up, dealer would have been forced to sell for $20k less is detached from reality.

991.2 manuals are typically 3,200+ lbs. Minus about 150 lbs., including meaningful unsprung weight loss, single mass flywheel, shortened gear ratios. It's probably really, really good on a backroad.

I’m pretty sure the car could have sold for $10-20k more than I paid. My dealer prices cars somewhat low because they’re an AutoNation dealer and they try to move inventory quickly. I happened to get the car because it was offered to me privately (volume customer with more than 10-year history) before it was listed and offered to the public. The guy who traded it in got an allocation for the new 3RS at MSRP, so I imagine he didn’t haggle much on the trade in price. And I got a fair trade in price for my 991 GT3, considering the mileage, track use, and wear and tear. Everybody happy with the deals.

$70k spread
place your bets: increase, roughly the same, or decrease.
