The 991 GT3/RS Cars For Sale Thread...

It's a telling thread, one group cheerleading market devaluation, the other crossing their fingers that the market continues in the current valuation trajectory. We all want to ensure that what we've bought, or what we want to buy is financially responsible. But if a $30-50K market swing one way or another is going to dictate a potential buyer pulling the trigger on one of these cars...may I suggest you consider playing in a different sandbox? I could be wrong and everyone's financial responsibilities situation is different, just seems to me that if you're in the former group, maybe evaluate why you have that sentiment? This thread feels contemptuous at times.
We all want to feel like we got a bargain, but to be honest market value doesn't matter if you don't plan to sell your car. I bought my 993 at the high end of market value and the 993 value threads were pretty bleak, but I knew the car was a keeper so it really didn't matter. Fast forward and the price I paid was a steal. So who really knows long term with this stuff.
I don't think it's unreasonable to expect relative stability in Touring prices given the inventory - that's just being realistic. $30k swing is entirely possible, but seeing a Touring sell now for $20k under sticker(or whatever it was) is just not reality for a decent example.

This. The flippers for the most part have moved onto the 992s for better or worse, not sure many are holding onto a 991.2 with the hopes of them skyrocketing in the short term, that ship has sailed for now. I don't find this thread contentious but rather I think we are seeing those that want to get into one being hopeful things will drop enough that they can do it - and hopefully that happens for them. If mine drops, it drops....if it goes up it goes up, I don't care either way. Cost of depreciation is worth experiencing it, and yes it is fun to peek at the numbers being asked and auction numbers, but no matter, 100% correct with this comment here rk-d.

I think we should be happy that our cars are worth at or near the MSRP after all these years. I have no plans on selling mine so it’s value now is of no consequence to me. Even if it costs me in the future the enjoyment the car gave me is worth it!

Does anyone know anything about this particular 911R? Isringhausen has had it in their inventory for awhile now.

I'll bite. I think most folks in here aren't truly impacted by a $30K-50K loss. It's part of the cost of ownership for any high performance vehicle. That said, it's natural for people to try to be financially savvy - it's probably why most can afford these cars in the first place in addition to being high earners. To those who truly find $30K-50K immaterial probably have multiple GT cars and have their 992 GT3RS on order.
I've been shopping for the next upgrade from my .1 GT3. I bought at a market high and have probably taken a loss already in the range you described. I am fine with that as long as the step into the next car is now much closer. I am not okay with randomly pissing away $30-50K in every car I buy - just two times of that I can spec a new marked up 992 GT3.

Buying a 991 GT3 and having it depreciate $30-50K over 3-5 yrs is quite different than just setting that much $ on fire. If the possibility of the former is not “acceptable” financially or emotionally, then perhaps spending $200K on any car isnt a great idea- even if GT3 values slide 10-15% in the short term to allow a more digestible price of entry. Buying a GT3 based upon predicted depreciation, hoping for appreciation / flip, when Porsche stops making ICE GT cars, etc sucks the fun out of ownership imo-

Anyone familiar with this RS? Seems to be aggressively priced.

I looked at a few 16 RS back in April and they were priced from 205-210K so with the recent slip in prices that may be in line.

The Lava '16 GT3 RS at West Coast Exotic Cars seems a better deal - PCCB in place, buckets, lower mileage - what am I missing? I purchased my car from them and had a great buying experience, otherwise no affiliation.
