Stress fracture in GT3RS Rear Window
#31
No they know. The cage was installed last September. The crack occurred two weekends ago. Service guys at Porsche SD have seen it a bunch before the crack. It's all covered under warranty. SA just said they did not have to remove cage.

No crack yet, 8 track days 6000Km
The car has very stiff suspension, we were getting tossed around in the car yesterday at the Ring without harnesses.
This didn't happen in the .1RS and I can see that the glass besides being different no, also has more forces on it.

I had one in my 2RS took forever for them to get the window.
Then all of sudden one day it showed up. They covered most of it under warranty.
Front easy to get, the rear is hard to get. On a side note I got up to 195 MPH with the crack and it held. Actually drove with it about 4,000 miles.

Rear window just cracked today at Laguna. Fractured diagonally across the entire width and a branch/fork off the main split. 5th track day on the car, average speed doesn't-know-how-to-drive-fast driving (not driving over curbs, no sliding around turns, etc) 3000 total mi. Really disappointing given how little I presumably stress the car compared to people like orthojoe and maxltv.

This crack most likely comes from driving with windows down - not how the car is designed and tested, nor how the air bags are designed to work (for you your safety). You need to do what Porsche mandates everywhere they operate their car(s) in a track setting - run with windows up - problem solved.
