At least on the .1 gt3 and gt4, if caster goes 10 degrees or more, you run the risk of rubbing

Hmm, he didn't include that, I'll ping him tomorrow and see. I believe he left that close to 10 when we spoke originally.

I'll find out for sure if it rubs Saturday. 😉

Dave

Default castor

On the 991.2 GT3 - Castor of 10.0 is well tolerated with no rubbing issues. On the 991.1 GT3 - a castor of 10.0 would be rubbing like crazy.

Did you require any aftermarket parts to get these numbers? Did the corner weights include driver's weight?

Confirmed, no rubbing on the .2, with the Hoosier 245 oem sized front.

Yeah, I'm not really sure, but definitely fits cleanly.

No after market parts necessary to achieve these numbers. Corner weights are without me in the car, but a full tank of fuel.

Dave

Thanks, Dave

2.5 Track days on my GT3 and the front tires are wearing mostly even with stock alignment, but the rear outer edges are totally killed like you found. Have you driven on cup2 after bumping up the camber? Any change in the rear wear pattern?

I ran the OEM set of Dunlops (came with my .2) and a set of Hoosiers 245/325 with camber of -2.5F -2.0R with great results in advanced run groups. Seems to be very even wear and long life. Heat cycles killed them before cording.

My guess is that if you run cup2, your rear will wear on the outside excessively. When I ran Dunlop and trofeoR on my .1, the rear wear wasn't an issue.

Interesting posts on alignment. I've been closely following any and all threads/posts regarding alignment. My main interest is tire wear, more so than any performance improvement.

Here's my little contribution on alignment and tire wear.

My GT3 is bone stock, on MPSC2's. Caveat is that stock alignment from the factory varies quite a bit, as I've learned from multiple posts. I did emphasize on the spec order sheet that this car will be a track dedicated car, for whatever it was worth. Running 33 front 36 rear hot, 6 track days with just over 2,000 street miles before that. Wear across the front relatively even. Rears wearing out faster, with bias wear towards the outside edges despite the higher tire pressures. Not sure if the 2,000 street miles contributed more to the rear tire wear, as I've generally worn out the fronts quicker in my prior track dedicated car.

Just putting this out there for whatever it's worth. I'll continue to follow you all for posts on alignment and tire wear.

Same here. Just one trackday on Dunlops, Camber 2.3 front and 1.8 rear. Front tires with nice and even wear, rear tires extremly wasted
on the outside. Very loose rear at corner entry while pushing hard as well as well as oversteer in the exit. I always thought a 911 could
accelerate way earlier out of corners than a GT4, but this proved wrong. What´s the cure, more camber rear, switch to Michelin Cup2?
Otherwise awesome, but the rear did not meet the standards set by the front in my case...

Interesting. In the .1 GT3 I ran -2.7/-2.4 out of the box. With the Dunlop's the front tires were even but bald after 2 track days but the rears were nice even and plenty of tread left. So much that I took off the front and put in a set of worn front cup2 that still had some tread. I wonder if it has to do with the spring rates. Maybe the .2 has stiffer front springs but the same rear springs compared to .1?

The CUP2 are even worse with outside edge chunking.
more camber doesn’t help.

stiff sway bar and DSC help a little.

as soon as I went to Hoosier all the normal rules apply again to LAR tires wear better.

This is what I found with the cup2 on the .1 as well

Do you have LEDS, front lift or Bose?
